Level of practice

Total beginners with no yoga experience can join, the ages range from 17-65. Some students are just regular people with no yoga experience and only join for fun, some are already yoga teachers looking to deepen their practice and gain higher level certification, some are personal trainers, dancers, and pole artists.

The course focuses on how to practice correctly, teach others safely, explore what’s possible with creative workshops, inspiring activities to nurture self-discovery and healing, as well as building strength and confidence. It is not about doing advanced poses to show off and get hurt, the inversions are just a small part. Students are encouraged to practice gently, skip advanced poses, and take rest.

Ulu Yoga swing

What really makes the Aerial classes unique is the Uly Yoga Swing, which is widely popular and sold all over the world. The Ulu Yoga Swing has cushioned padding for superior comfort and support. Compared to regular antigravity and parachute style aerial hammocks, they are slippery, painful, plus cause skin rash and bruising.

The Ulu Yoga Swing can spread open to create a stable base for sitting poses and inversions. It also folds and rolls up to make a thick pillow for the hips in forwarding bending postures. Plus the fabric is industrial strength, non-slip, waterproof, and poly texture for extra secure grip and safety. However, the course does include a regular silk hammock workshop and students may practice with them for the entire course if they prefer.

Teaching materials

The course content is supported by teaching yoga by Mark Stephens, Hatha illustrated by Martin Kirk, Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff, Ulu Aerial yoga by Edward Pawlak, Yoga Diary by Shashi Mahler, plus traditional text such as Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

Ulu Yoga School

Since 2014, Ulu Yoga has led over 100 yoga teacher training and yoga retreats around the world, producing hundreds of successful new instructors. Ulu Yoga teaches traditional Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Aerial, Acro, and SUP yoga. As well as created the wonderful Ulu Fly Swing, which is an international success.

The key to Uly Yoga growth has been a mix of creative innovation and dynamic variety styles supported by an inspiring team of master instructors who balance technical skill with sacred wisdom and personalized care. Nurturing student relations with private interviews and group sharing allows the school to reflect upon feedback and implement changes to continuously improve quality and satisfaction.

Ulu Yoga strives to be creative and unique while still honoring the sacred wisdom of traditional yoga as a path to truth, health, and happiness.
