Budhi Ayu and Full Moon Villa are wonderful gorgeous quiet resort about a 10-minute walk from the yoga center and near Budhi Ayu where the other students stay. The rooms are clean and spacious with good Wi-Fi, 24-hour reception, A/C, fridge, tea kettle, TV, King size bed, sunny bathroom with hot shower, bath tub, large balcony with table and chairs overlooking a large pool surrounded by lush tropical greenery and neighboring rice fields. Also DFive Family is a highly rated hostel with “sparkly clean room”, shared A/C dorms, wifi, great breakfast, swimming pool, hot showers and lockers.

Course structure

This course is carefully designed according to Yoga Alliance standards plus various student needs and interests. 1) Techniques and Practice 2) Teaching Methodology 3) Anatomy and Physiology 4) Yoga Philosophy 5) Teaching Practice 6) Self-Study.

1. Techniques and practice

Analytical Training

Receive detailed analytic instruction of traditional aerial yoga asanas and techniques along with their classical hatha and vinyasa yoga counterparts. Learn correct alignment, cueing, sequencing, adjustments, common mistakes and modification for beginner and advanced levels.

Guided practice

Each morning you will practice aerial hatha yoga, which teaches how to align the body correctly while having a developing practice, which is detailed with book and video. The poses become gracefully connected with vinyasa yoga elements. Included also is meditation and pranayama.

Workshops (1x each)

Aerial Acro

Use swings to support flyers and bases with balance and alignment to achieve creative poses mixing partner and acro yoga with therapeutics and massage. Students learn to trust and communicate with each other and themselves in fun and challenging new ways.

Aerial silk

Receive a demonstration using anti-gravity style hammocks to practice more intricate complicated asanas, which involve wrapping the fabric around the body. Students are welcome to complete the whole course using silk hammocks of their own if they prefer, but ULU Yoga’s cushioned swings are far more comfortable.

Aerial choreography

Learn how to synchronize simple aerial acrobatic flows in pairs and coordinate as a group to create artistic sequences. Students can dress up and paint themselves to perform their choreography with music and special effects, which you can record to make an incredible video.

Aerial Photoshoot

Learn to make bamboo tripods, give event demonstrations, practice with double swings and set up group photoshoots to take amazing pictures flying in nature. You can use these pictures to inspire others, promote yourself, get jobs and succeed professionally.

2. Teaching methodology

Learn communication skills, teaching styles, teacher qualities, time management, the establishment of priorities and boundaries, student learning process, group dynamics, time management, fulfilling individuals in the various group setting, the principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting.

3. Anatomy and physiology

Learn the biomechanics of movement, spinal health, techniques to treat illnesses and injuries, principles of compression and proportion, combining traditional knowledge with modern scientific studies.

4. Yoga philosophy

Create an authentic yogic lifestyle with applying the Patanjali Yoga Sutras to daily life. Learn the brief history of yoga and development of aerial by way of Iyengar’s innovative prop use, ashtanga’s structured primary series in combination with acro, physical therapy and performance.

5. Teaching practice

Practice teaching every day to become a confident skilled instructor. Learn assisting, adjustments, set routines, and class design. Received detailed feedback to facilitate development and finish the course ready to go out and teach professionally.

6. Group work and self-study

There are Pre-Course Videos to practice some basic poses and pranayama to prepare the body and mind for intensive training. During the course, there is daily self-study and group work to read the manual, review notes, design classes, and practice teaching.

Level

The course focuses on how to practice correctly, explore what’s possible with creative workshops and develop confidence as a skillful instructor. Students are encouraged to take rest and skip advanced options. Some people have no experience and join for fun, others are professionals seeking qualified certification.

ULU yoga swing

ULU Yoga is famous for its unique style and cushioned aerial swings, which are sold around the world. The fitted padding and poly-thread fabric provide greater comfort and support so you don’t slip or bruise the skin like with regular silk hammocks, thus facilitating a greater range of practice and development.

Teaching materials

Students receive printed manuals. ULU Yoga recommends studying Teaching Yoga by Mark Stephens, Hatha Illustrated by Martin Kirk, Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and the Bhagavad Gita.

Included excursions

For one day you will do Aerial outside and take beautiful pictures in nature. You may also visit the nearby monkey forest and water temple if enough people wish to join. Also nearby is Canggu Beach, which makes for a perfect beach trip and is cheap if everyone shares a taxi fare.

This training takes place in the vibrant yoga mecca of Ubud, a vibrant place full of Balinese culture, boutique shopping, and healthy cuisine. Ubud Yoga Center is a contemporary two-tiered complex building created by one of Balinese’s most prominent international award-winning architect. The venue has a breathtaking shala with glass walls overlooking a lush green jungle river. During break time, you can visit Ubud's exotic Monkey Forest and sacred Water Temple for purification. And Bali of course is a top world destination for yoga, wellness, culture, and nature.

Food

Packages with accommodation include free breakfast or lunch at your hotel. For breakfast, ULU Yoga recommends to eat at the Ubud Yoga Center Cafe, which has a beautiful outdoor yogic cafe with an incredible variety of healthy nutrient-dense whole foods with with locally sourced vegetables, seasonal fruits and plant-based foods plus whole grain bread, homemade muesli, free range eggs, exotic tropical fruits, world famous Bali coffee and herbal tea plus more. Or you can walk to your resort for free breakfast, but this cuts short your break time. Better is to take free lunch at your resort, which can be tailored to suit your needs. For dinner, Ubud city has many world famous restaurants serving incredible cuisine.

Ubud

Ubud is regarded as the cultural center of Bali. It is famous as an arts and crafts hub, and much of the town and nearby villages seems to consist of artists' workshops and galleries. There are some remarkable architectural and other sights to be found, and a general feeling of well being to be enjoyed, all thanks to the spirit, surroundings, and climate of the place. A big variety of different yoga styles can be practiced here with popular teachers from all over the world in a multitude of different yoga studios and retreat centers.

Bali spirit festival

This festival takes place from March 29 until April 3, and is one of the world's most inspiring celebrations of global community, world music and wellbeing! It summons yoga enthusiasts, dancers, musicians and spirituality seekers from all corners of the globe, joining together to inspire one another and nourish each individual's potential within. ULU Yoga can arrange group discounts for everybody who would like to join.

Arts and culture

The town and area has a number of art museums, such as the Blanco Renaissance Museum, the Puri Lukisan Museum, Neka Art Museum, and the Agung Rai Museum of Art. Nearby is the Museum Rudana in Peliatan.

The Tek Tok is a traditional Balinese dance that is accompanied by musical sound of mouth 'Tek Tok' altogether with various combinations of body movement and other sounds. Many performances of traditional Balinese dance are happening all around Ubud.

Nature

The Ubud Monkey Forest is a sacred nature reserve located near the southern end of Jalan Monkey Forest. It houses the temple of death, and approximately 340 crab-eating macaque (Macaca fascicularis) monkeys live there.

The Campuhan ridge walk is a hill from where one can see two rivers - Tukad Yeh Wos Kiwa and Tukad Yeh Wos Tengen - merge. There is one-meter wide of paving block track about two kilometers to the top of the hill.

Surfing

Kuta and Seminyak Beach are Bali's most famous surfing hot spots stretching for about three kilometers on the south coast of Bali. Blessed by great waves, it has become a famous tourist attraction with a big choice of hotels, bars, restaurants, night club, souvenir shops, shopping centers, entertainments, etc. The beauty of this beach is complemented by the spectacular sunrise that creates the romantic nuance.

Diving

Bali is Indonesia's most popular dive holiday destination. Many visitors find the attraction of good shore-based resort diving set against a stunning backdrop of huge, magnificent volcanoes and picturesque rice paddy terraces, simply irresistible.

The Gili Islands

Gili Islands are a great destination if you are looking for a remote island experience with excellent snorkelling and diving possibilities. Each island has several small resorts, usually consisting of a collection of huts for tourists, a small pool and restaurant. Automobiles and motorized traffic is prohibited on the islands by local ordinance, so the preferred method of transportation is by foot and bicycle or the horse-drawn carriage called a cidomo. Diving in and around the Gilis is also popular due to the abundance of marine life and attractive coral formations. From Ubud, take a transport to Padang Bai (e.g. Perama bus or taxi) - about an hour's drive. There you can catch all sorts of fast boats to the Gili Islands (1.5 hours on the boat).

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by taxi

Please book your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). From Denpasar airport, just take a taxi on arrival to your accommodation in Ubud. It costs about 20 USD and take about 30 minutes. It's easy to book yourself, but if you prefer, your resort can arrange one for you.
