Certification

Students who complete 80% of training before September 30, 2020, are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®). After September 30th you can complete 20% online and 80% in-person to receive a Yoga Alliance Certificate. After September 30th you can still do the entire course online and receive a Certificate of Completion from Ulu Yoga who is a 200/300/500-hour Yoga Alliance School. If you have already completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance accredited TT, then you can take this course online and receive a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certificate of Continuing Education.

Live Classes

You are not required to attend live classes. They are all recorded and you can watch later. Starting June classes will be mostly Q&A discussion about the video modules and assignments, but also some special lectures, workshops and regular practice. The times will be Monday-Saturday 7:00-9:00am or 7:00-9:00pm Thailand time (subject to change). You may attend up to 100 hours of live classes over a 12 month period.

Teaching Materials

You will receive PDF’s and links to readings. Much of the content is derived from: Teaching Yoga by Mark Stephens, Hatha Illustrated by Martin Kirk, Light on Yoga by B.K.S. Iyengar, Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Bhagavad Gita and Vedas.

Course content

Techniques, Training, Practice

Daily practice of Hatha and Vinyasa yoga featuring sun salutations, traditional core poses, meditation and pranayama. Daily analytics where each pose is examined in detail for correct form and alignment. Workshops include prenatal, injuries, adjustments, sequencing, more detailed meditation and pranayama.

Anatomy & Physiology

Working with injuries, senior, prenatal, trauma release and mixed levels. Biomechanics of movement, principles of compression and proportion plus working with different body types. Respiratory, muscular, and skeletal. The subtle energetic body of the nadis, chakras, and doshas.

Yoga Humanities

History, philosophy, ethics and classical texts including Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Bhagavad Gita. Includes the 8 limbs, yamas, niyamas, gunas, doshas, kleshas, and more.

Professional Essentials

Includes teaching methodology, class design, professional development and teaching practice. You will record yourself teaching 3-5 complete classes, planned in fine detail, and reviewed by an instructor.

Bonus Classes

Optional video modules include aerial yoga with ULU Yoga founder Edward and intro to Acro Yoga with Caspian and Astri from Bali. You will also learn how to make an aerial tripod so you practice at home indoors or outdoors.

200 vs 300-hour

200 hours is more beginner-friendly, Level 1 & 300 hours is more intermediate and advanced Level 2.

200 hours you get a good overview of yoga subjects like asana, anatomy, philosophy and alignment. 300 hours you learn to guide deeper and more specific experiences for your students/clients using yoga practices of asana, pranayama, and meditation.

200 hours you learn basic human anatomy, biomechanics of movement and subtle energetics to understand the body as a holistic system. 300 hours you study more the specific health benefits of various asanas and techniques to treat illness and injury, release trauma and depression, serve prenatal and seniors.

200 hours can be challenging both physically and mentally and require patience and determination to absorb a completely new way of thinking and living. 300 hours expect students to be in good form, receptive and attentive, and eager to take the leap towards deepening the layers of practice and developing higher-level skills to provide balanced guidance for others.

Beginner vs Advanced

There are no advanced poses, it is just the advanced way to understand the basics that leads us to enhance the practice, which varies for everyone.

Yoga offers many ways to know and work the mind, body and soul. All the methodologies applied to the advancement of the understanding of yoga as an inherent system within our own bodies.

The more we understand yoga according to our own capabilities, the more it works for us to create results and help to understand others.

Modification is the key, there is no one way to do the same pose as there is no one exactly like another person. Our advancement is understanding more bodies and more people. What can be basic for someone really advanced for others and another way round.

There is no right or wrong, there are just different ways. Through practice and experience, you learn what works for your body and lifestyle, and by sharing with others you learn to guide them with skill. But we can never deny the power of discipline, commitment, ethics, and manners.

Certificate

ULU Yoga is a 200/300/500-hour registered school with Yoga Alliance ID 198078 Upon successfully completing this course you will receive a Yoga Alliance Certificate and become a Registered Yoga Teacher and can join Yoga Alliance as an official member. You will receive a PDF certificate and we will mail you a laminated copy upon request.

Yoga Alliance

Yoga Alliance is allowing courses to be 100% online through September 2020. After September you can still complete 40-60 hours online, the remaining hours you can finish in Thailand or Bali, or potentially a local affiliate partner near you.

World Yoga Alliance

After September 2020, unless Yoga Alliance extends its online certification option, ULU Yoga will continue offering 100% online courses certified by World Yoga Alliance. Once you sign up for a course you have a year to complete it.

Tuition Credit

Your online tuition fee serves as credit to attend any course in Thailand and Bali including the Aerial Yoga TT. If the Thailand course is 2000 USD, and the online course costs 500 USD, you will only pay 1500 USD. Then you can enjoy more special classes like beach yoga, aerial yoga, acro yoga and SUP yoga, as featured in ULU Yoga pictures and videos.

Shashi Mahler

Shashi (Germany) is lead ULU Aerial Yoga Teacher, E-RYT 500hr Hatha-Yoga and 500hr Aerial Yoga. Shashi stepped on the path of Yoga more than 10 years ago with the passionate studies of western, yogic and Buddhist philosophy. Her inexhaustible studies of metaphysical and energetical concepts, explaining the functions of the body and mind guided her to breathing and meditation techniques. Soon she came across the practice of physical yoga and found great emotional and mental relief in her daily practice.

Shashi finished university and went abroad to enjoy silent retreats in nature and monasteries and study with renowned yoga masters. Based on this she created an intuitive restorative Aerial Yoga Style. The heart leads but western minded course shares the great gift of restorative Aerial yoga. Her aim is to show the compassionate way of self-healing through the opening and acceptance of the body. Her grounded and determined personality together with her lighthearted easy laughter invites each student to more curiosity and depth within.

Cody Gavin Pizer

Cody (South Africa) RYT-500, lead ULU Yoga Trainer. Cody has been Teaching Yoga Globally for several years and instructing on multiple Yoga Teacher Trainings as a lead and Senior Instructor. He has trained in India and Thailand on Multi-style Vinyasa, Yoga, Hatha, Ashtanga and Yin Teacher Trainings, and attended multiple movement, anatomy, and mediation workshops throughout Asia. He has certifications in aerial and SUP yoga. Additionally he has several years of experience in Qi Gong, Primal Movement, Contemporary Dance, Calisthenic training, and a black belt in Taekwondo.

Cody has taken the role of lead instructor on numerous Yoga Teacher Trainings for over several years. He specializes in Human Anatomy Related to Movement, Yoga, Buddhist and Classic Philosophy, Yoga Asana Analytics and Movement Clinics, Guided meditation and self-meditation training, as well as Vinyasa, Aerial, Primal, Restorative and SUP Yoga. He is a long-time meditator, movement artist, vegan and intermittent faster plus has written books on mindfulness, meditation and Flow.

Cody has led multiple mindfulness retreats, mixed movement arts and flow workshops in Bali, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia plus taught at the famous Yoga Barn in Bali and Blue Indigo in Cambodia. Cody has an uninhibited spirit, which directs his life and inspires others to grow beyond themselves. He has a passion for movement and mindfulness which connects disciplines and translates into his holistic approach to classes. Cody feels that it is his life purpose to share his knowledge and inspire others through yoga, movement and philosophy. Guiding his students to discover more about the miracle and magic that is life.

Manjeet Mathur

Manjeet (India) started yoga and self-awareness path in 2009. He completed his 200-Hr, 300-Hr, Yoga Therapy Module 1 & 2 MultiStyle Yoga TT with Parimukti yoga in India. He also has certifications in Meditation teacher training and Iyengar yoga. Manjeet has taught 3000+ hours in 50 plus yoga and meditation teacher trainings specializing in Hatha yoga, Meditations, Practical Yoga Philosophy, Chakras, Pranayama, and more! He has a very Human approach to Yoga and believes in personalizing practices for everyone. Emotional Awareness and making a light, playful space also are Manjeet's speciality.

His classes can range from discussions on our Shadows (related to parents, money, relationships, life experiences) to singing Mantra circles to Dance Therapy practices to blissed-out Asana or Meditation sessions! Manjeet has led Chakra retreats, Dance Yoga trainings and Yoga Sharing circles and workshops in Bali and India. He has a Calming and Grounded presence which inspires others around him to come back to Simplicity and Ease of living.

Kehkashan Nadeem

KK (Pakistan) has 20 years of yoga experience. KK’s first yoga training was more than 1,000 hours long over a 6 month period followed by 3 months of volunteer teaching in 2001. Since then she has practiced every single day despite a busy family life with two kids. KK has completed a 500-hour Advanced YTT in Nepal, Hot Yoga TT from Absolute Yoga Academy, Advance Teaching Skills at the Yoga Expert Academy, Aerial Yoga TT at ULU Yoga & Sky Yoga Level 2 TT in Bali.

After training with ULU Yoga KK became famous for bringing aerial yoga to Pakistan and is featured on the radio, TV and magazines. Since then she has led several yoga teacher trainings with ULU Yoga in Thailand and Bali. Since 2001 she has practiced every single day despite a busy family life with two kids. Each year KK attends more trainings to improve her skills in various styles. She thanks yoga for giving her such an amazing meaningful life and thanks her instructors and students for allowing her to share what she loves.

KK’s passion for improving oneself through yoga is infectious. She is a master at taking you through the paces, drawing connections between poses, giving you the confidence to try tricky things & get into advanced poses eventually. She is tough when one needs to be challenged, and compassionate as she tailors poses to suit one’s capabilities, taking time to discuss students’ health and introduce them to pranayama and meditation, determined to take one deeper into the sublime joyride that is yoga.

Dr Kalpana Karia

Since the age of nine Kalpana Karia started learning yoga from her father Dhanjibhai Khagram thereafter the age of 18 she went to London for her further studies in Radiology she always went to many yoga classes in London. After completing her studies in London she went to India In Rishikesh and took an intensive yoga teacher training course at Sivananda Ashram.

Yoga has always been her passion and she never stopped studying to update her knowledge up to today from 1982 to 1986 she did a television series teaching yoga on the local Kenyan television and published her first book YOGA FOR HEALTH which was based on her TV series. In 1997 she was appointed as the director for East African studies by the British School of Yoga she taught Yoga voluntarily and trained many teachers

In 2010 she had a major car accident which was very traumatic but she revived herself through yoga and started teaching again in 2014. After meeting the PM of India Narendra Modi who encouraged her to write the second edition of her book in 2017 she wrote and published her second edition YOGA FOR HEALTH wisdom and harmony.

She has also received many awards for her presentations at international Yoga conferences around the world. In 2017 she was appointed as the director for East African studies by the International Federation of Yoga professionals in New Delhi presently she conducts voluntary classes and teachers training courses in her hometown Kisumu, Kenya.
