Whether you are looking for a romantic or an adventurous trip, Madeira will fulfill your hearts desire. Madeira consists of eight exceptional islands and offers a lot to discover. Some are left to nature and untouched by human, and others own beautiful golden beaches. However, all of them inhabit beautiful wildlife and flora.

Mild summers and soft winters created islands full of trees and flowers and is making Madeira a sunny place. Beauty and history can be found in every corner.

The islands are full of a large variety of trees which gave them the name of "Madeira", meaning wood. Volcanoes created those islands long ago and left them with their characteristic features of an elaborate system of levadas and irrigation channels. Throughout the years, these channels expanded to more than 2000 kilometers and the tunnels to more than 40 kilometers. Nowadays, they wind their way across gullies and steep slopes bringing water to the coastal settlements and farms. A lot of those levadas can be walked on and used as trails when discovering the most remote parts of Madeira's nature.
