This retreat will be held at the Novotel Inle Lake, in Nyaung Shwe, Myanmar (formerly Burma). Isolated from the world for five decades due to military rule, visiting Myanmar is like entering a time warp. The world center of Theraveda Buddhism for 1,000 years, spirituality is woven into the fabric of the country's culture. As the first international teacher training to take place in the country, you will be one of the first to experience this mystical and unspoiled destination in a yoga retreat setting.

Located in central Myanmar, Inle Lake is the largest fresh water lake in the country, densely inhabited by many ethnic minorities and surrounded by the lush Blue Mountains rising 1,000 meters above sea level. Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min is located on the East bank of Inle Lake near Maing Thauk Village. It is 7 miles South of Nyaung Shwe, the main town of Inle Lake, Southern Shan State.

Due to it's unique location, Inle Lake enjoys cooler climates than most of southeast Asia, an abundance of local produce and close vicinity to some of the most fascinating pagoda and temple sites.

"I joined the Chiang Mai retreat in the last minute due to changes on my trip schedule. Even though I had no experience practicing yoga, I found the retreat completely suitable for a beginner even though there were many advanced yoginis. I went to the retreat on my own but Jojo and her crew from Yangon Yoga House made me feel completely part of the family from minute one. It was very inspiring, great fun and since then I practice yoga regularly back in London. Thank you guys for making me feel sooooo good during the lovely retreat in Chiang Mai. "

"JoJo’s yoga retreats are the perfect mix of yoga, incredible food and relaxation. I’ve practiced yoga for 7 years but have always found myself challenged by JoJo’s retreats. She knows how to push her students to help them find new depths to their yoga, while also knowing when to give them a break. The one on one lessons were particularly helpful and fundamentally changed the way I now practice. I’ve been on two retreats with JoJo, in Cambodia and Thailand and couldn’t have asked for a nicer mix of people, setting and content. A retreat also offers you the chance to focus in on a particular pose, like headstand and explore it from multiple angles - something that is rare in day to day classes. I can’t recommend these retreats enough. "

"Yangon Yoga House is a peaceful sanctuary in bustling Yangon - perfect to unwind after a hectic day at work! I especially enjoy Jojo's powerful Vinyasa classes that are awesome if you like a rigorous but fun yoga practice. Jojo is great a giving tips for beginners or alternative pauses if, like me, you're not massively flexible... I also enjoy the other fitness classes there, circuit training with Tammi, very intense, or the Pilates classes with Margaret. Yangon Yoga House is a great addition to the Yangon fitness scene, with an awesome yogi/fitness enthusiast community and high quality instructors. Keep up the good work!"

"This was one of the best yoga practices I've gone to. I was traveling through Southeast Asia on a trip with a few friends and stopped in Myanmar on the way. The studio was fantastic: very well designed, a wonderful space to relax and get a workout. The selling point for me was really the instructor. Jojo is a dedicated yogi, who leads you on a spiritual journey through her practice. She is attentive, helps you adjust your poses and achieve the perfect alignment and stretching, while also provides you with the right breathing patterns to deepen your practice. I wish I lived in Yangon to go there regularly. Would highly recommend!"

"Whether you live in Yangon or are coming through town on holiday, you should absolutely stop by Yangon Yoga House and try any of the classes as a drop-in student (yoga, pilates, barre, circuits, etc.). Jojo has created a welcoming environment and once you find the classes you like most, you'll notice familiar faces week after week. The studio has a lovely, friendly vibe and solid workouts for all levels. I always leave feeling refreshed and fulfilled! And if you're heading out for a meal or event after class, you can use the showers on site-- very convenient! The studio is classy, clean, and calming... a real retreat in the center of this busy city!"

"Jojo has totally transformed my experience of living in Yangon. Yoga has been a transformative force in my life for years, but when I first moved here I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to grow in my practice. Jojo is a phenomenal instructor. I've taken countless classes over the years, and Jojo is gifted at what she does. She is able to provide students with a solid foundation so that they can reach and grow, while also making sure that each class has a solid strengthening component. With the Yangon Yoga House, Jojo is building a beautiful community space for people looking to unwind, sweat, and relax. The space is comfortable, welcoming, and I'm so grateful it exists here!"

"Jojo the founder of Yangon Yoga House is not only a great yoga teacher, she also has a vision for yoga in Yangon and has built a very warm and welcoming studio in the heart of Yankin Township. It is a place where I love to go practice but also just hang to feel the positive and soothing energy of the place. There are classes for every level and all the classes I have tried were of high quality. Highly recommended!"

"Very recently, I participated in my first yoga experience ever at the Yangon Yoga House. Any apprehension I had was lifted almost immediately when I entered the door. The environment is welcoming and the space is super comfortable. I was very impressed with the knowledge of the teacher and owner, Jojo. She puts you at ease and explains the positions well. The class was well suited for me, and I liked that it was designed to fit a variety of fitness levels. The experience was hugely positive and I look forward to going back. The lists of classes are growing fast. I do believe that both experienced and less-experienced yogis will feel right at home."
