Online Yoga Teacher Training

This program is designed with the idea of Yoga Therapy. This course is the precursor for the upcoming yoga therapy teacher's training courses. It is a very new and unique course. It trains you in the ancient traditional approach to yoga practice and perfectly meets the need of the modern era all the way to the code of ethics, health, safety, and professionalism. The course covers all aspects of yoga practice and prepares you to start a very rewarding and meaningful career in yoga teaching to help yourself and others. Program

Pre-application requirements

Applicants for the course will need to have regular yoga practices for a minimum of 2+ years.

Certifications

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be given a 250-hour yoga teacher certificate and foundational therapeutic teacher certificate. Students will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance Professionals.

Note: With this foundation course students are not qualified as a yoga therapist. To qualify as a yoga therapist in Europe or the UK, students will need to complete at least a 500+ hours Diploma Course.

How the training works

This is 250-hour online teacher training with 80 contact hours. The live sessions will be conducted over Zoom. You will need a laptop or smartphone with a reliable internet connection to participate in the training.

YOG Kaya is based in the UK. Day 1 of the 20 days with online sessions will typically look like this:

Course overview

This training is designed for students who have a strong desire to teach, it is also ideal for yoga teachers who are looking into absorbing themselves further in the therapeutic aspect of yoga and take time for reflective personal growth or anyone who wants to understand, deepen and develop the skills required for.

Fundamentals of yoga

Diving deep into Pranayama, Mudras, Bandhas, Chakras, meditation, yoga Nidra, and hands-on healing.

Student should obtain comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of Yoga and its techniques and tools.

Concepts of teaching

Learn all key concepts of teaching such as class design, sequencing, pacing, use of voice and instructions, designing the theme, and hands-on adjustments in a concise and clear format.

Special focus: Therapeutic aspect of yoga

Therapeutic application of the postures for common problems. Discover yoga as a healing modality. Learn how asana works at physical, energetic, emotional, and spiritual levels, and how to modify them for individual needs. Learn the nature of health and illness from the yoga perspective.

Philosophy

Well organized and can be incorporated into your teaching and daily life. This study includes Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Bhagwat Gita, and The Five Kosha Model Introduction to Ayurveda and how it relates to yoga.

Anatomy

A full anatomy and physiology course specifically designed for the yoga training course.

Aim

The main goal of this course is to produce well-trained, professional yoga teachers. The syllabus is based on the reflection of Yoga Therapy. Yoga is therapeutic by its nature. The training focuses on an individualized approach with the understanding that the needs of students are unique. YOG Kaya believes that each yoga teacher should receive all complete and in-depth instruction of yoga as well as detailed experiential instruction / practice in the tools and techniques of yoga.

Assessment

The course is assessed constantly using self-feedback and trainer feedback. Students will be constantly mentored throughout the course and given guidance.

  • Complete a First Aid Course (not included in this course. You must organize it yourself)
  • Take thorough notes throughout the course
  • Assignments will be given and are required to be completed for certification. This includes a main research assignment on a yoga topic of interest to you.

Other requirements and assignments

Practice teaching

Throughout your training, you will be asked to teach the other trainees through a number of asanas. This will be held before the teacher. It would be an opportunity for you to teach others on the course as well as being a student to the other trainees. You will be observed and provided feedback on your teaching skills.

Observation hours

You will be required to observe and attend a minimum of 3 classes preferably with a variety of teachers and write a report on your observations.

Notebook / portfolio

You will be asked to start your own technique notebook consisting of the poses you have learnt in your classes. The notebooks will be done in the class and will consist of notes you determine to be beneficial for teaching each pose you learn.

Terms and conditions

Attendance

  • 100% attendance is expected throughout the course. All coursework and exams must be completed to an acceptable standard before the end of the course in order to receive the qualification.
  • If circumstances require a student to miss a taught module, they may make this up with additional study by agreement with the teaching faculty. This may incur additional costs which will be agreed upon between the student and teacher.
  • There may be situations in which a student wishes to put their training on hold - you may discuss options with the teaching faculty.

Study and assignments

Becoming a motivational teacher starts with your own personal practice and we will expect students to develop a daily practice. This is the foundation for your ongoing learning and growth.

Quality assurance

Faculty teachers / trainers are required to set and mark theory and exam papers and observe practice, providing effective feedback to the student.
