Education in Bharat (India) has always been a matter of SEVA (selfless service) and was always freely given and taken. Not long ago, Yoga Bhawna Mission had a grand cluster of internationally acclaimed universities such as Nalanda, Vikramshila, and Takshashila, where different branches of knowledge such as science, geography astronomy, Tantra yoga, and astrology were imparted to the students from all over the world freely as part of social service to prepare humans for extraordinary capabilities.
The school has 18 spacious rooms that are facing the river and with attached toilet. All rooms are well equipped with basic and essential amenities like hot and cold water, facility in the toilets, separate queen-sized bed, and study table. In addition, the room amenities also include a ceiling fan, comfortable mattress, proper quilt, table kettle, and cupboard. The rooms are also properly ventilated and grilled with a metal mosquito net at the window to avoid any insect or flies.
Moreover, the washroom has a western toilet fitted with hot and cold water. It has enough space if you need to wash your clothes, as well as a separate space for pressing table with an electric iron box in case someone wants to press and iron their clothes after laundry.
Maintaining the same ancient style of imparting education, Yoga Bhawna Mission has taken this initiative to disseminate education of yoga to people across the world as a part of service where the aspirants are not expected to pay any charges for the education. However, the nominal charges which are just to meet the expense of stay and food will be charged from the participant.
This is an intensive teachers training course and candidates with exposure of self-practicing at least of one-year duration will be minimum criteria to apply for this course, experience more than a year will be given preference with an attitude to volunteer in the Karma yoga as much as possible which goes at Yoga Bhawna Mission.
Please be specific and explain clearly while writing motivation letter for a better probability of selection of application form.
The teaching technique is based as per the guideline set by Yoga Alliance USA and following the standard parameter. Apart from this, Yoga Bhawna Mission also emphasizes on their researched base teaching methodology as per the curriculum that is based on the ancient various yogic textbook and faculty enriched the experience.
You will be spending three to five hours a day, however, it will vary as per the school day-to-day schedule. Please read carefully before signing up the course terms and condition. This course is an extension of 200-hour Teacher Training course. During the 200-hour Teacher Training course, students will be given a proper guideline for the 500-hour Teacher Training Course which will take additional two more months after the completion of 200 hours. The daily schedule for 500 hours is quite different compared to the 200 hours. Please read the outline of the course carefully.
There will be a test in last week of the course which includes the project report submission and individual video presentation. The contents of the examination will vary for each course, only the successful candidate will be awarded the title of Yogpracharak.
The 500-hour Teacher Training course is an extension of 200-hour Teacher Training course. During the 200-hour training course, the students will be given a proper guideline for the 500-hour training course which will take additional two more months after the completion of 200 hours. The course will be more of a research-based program, where aspirants will discover themselves by being in contacts with the teachers and by being with their own practical experiences. As this course expands in further 300 hours ending in a total of 60 days, you will be provided with sufficient time period to understand, practice, as well as experience yoga and especially the importance of SEVA (selfless service) and Karma yoga as a part of a lifestyle.
During the morning and evening session, students will go through the daily routine schedule with 200-hour training course. Apart from this, they will be given information about deeper aspect of asana, pranayama with application of Bandha, Shankshaprakshalana, extensive knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, intensive knowledge of Philosophy, as well as detailed expounding on yoga text such as Hatha yoga Pradiplika, Yoga Sutra, Bhagwad Geeta, and Gherand Samhita (any one of the yoga text).
The students in the course are expected to prepare a project report relevant to the knowledge that they have received during the course. The topic of PR can be their personal choice, it can also be given to the students individually and it has to be in not less than 5000 words. The students will submit their (PR) under the guideline of Yoga Bhawna Mission faculty members and will have to submit before their final examination.
Before the final examination, students will go through a video presentation of their project PR report for minimum 30-minute and the maximum is 45-minute duration. In this course, all the aspirants will go through Karma yoga, which will be the part of the curriculum where they will participate in all kinds of activities going on in the school premises.
Karma yoga is the branch of yoga to perform activities following the arts of Karma yoga, there are many guidelines to this. At Yoga Bhawna Mission, this idea is executed on the basis of sharing responsibilities by everyone. In normal life, we do activities for ourselves and the result to the activities is confined to the performer, however, the same which we do for others become Karma yoga and the result does not stain the performer.
The same idea is incorporated here where the students will take responsibilities for the work allocated to them, which is for the smooth functioning of the school and at the same time performing allocated duties they engage themselves with their own knowledge. In this way, they have a chance to express what they know, expand on what they know, experience in what they know, as well as to learn something new and to also to know how. The activities might possibly include teaching, helping the school with the knowledge students already have, cooking, cleaning, and gardening.
There will be one full day Himalayan sightseeing excursion or picnic on any Sunday or free day every month with the Yoga Bhawna Mission team. This activity includes meals and transportation. All ex-student have repeatedly reported this is the best part of their stay at Yoga Bhawna Mission, it is an opportunity to use their hands and feet for a fruitful purpose, get closer to nature, and learn from her. It is an immensely therapeutic experience in itself and numerous yogis have told Yoga Bhawna Mission how their stress just disappeared as they get close to nature.
This yoga teacher training will take place at Yoga Bhawna Mission Uttarkashi School. The school is located at convenient distance from Rishikesh and takes only five to six hours of scenic journey. It is beautifully located on the banks of Bhagirathi river, this school is four kilometers before hustle bustle and traffic jams of Uttarkashi town. The highlight of the school is the high range Himalayan Mountian view and also the chance to practice yoga at the bank of Ganges River. The Ganges River is so divine and offers you a mystic experience of a lifetime. Not only that, the Shiva Temple in the school premises is another highlight of the school.
Yoga Bhawna Mission strictly serves vegetarian food that is freshly prepared and well dietary balanced, as well as recommended for yogis. There will be two big meals, one in the morning after asana class and then in the evening after evening yoga session. In between the afternoon, you will be served with light fruit-juice and herbal tea.
You will be served with strict but very tasty meal recommended for yogic lifestyle. However, in a certain situation, the individual requirement will also be taken into consideration. Yoga Bhawna Mission provides preference to locally cultivated and organic vegetables, fruits, pulses as per the availability, and also occasionally the kitchen team will experiment with a varied cuisine of India.
Moreover, your meals portions will be full of sprout, chapatti, rice, vegetable curry, green leaves, and salad. They also add sweets, papadum, and chutney occasionally. During the festival and special occasion, Yoga Bhawna Mission adds a different taste to your meals such as sweets and dishes. During your full day trip, Yoga Bhawna Mission will provide meals in the local restaurant where you go. However, if Yoga Bhawna Mission brings the team for a picnic, then you will prepare the food on site together with the team.
At Yoga Bhawna Mission, you have an opportunity to spend one-hour daily to the nearby surrounding. The school is just adjacent to Bhagirathi River and you can have the privilege to practice on the bank of the river or in the lap of forest and mountain. You will be guided by the resident team on alternate Sunday for the mountain walk, village walk, trekking and, river walk. Moreover, you can also enjoy some outdoor game such as volleyball.
Furthermore, you can also visit the nearby Panchkarma center which is only two kilometers from the school, to enjoy the Ayurvedic massage, Do-Sirodhara, and steam bath at additional costs.

Please book your flight to arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), from there you can take a domestic flight to Jolly Grant Airport (DED). From Jolly Grant airport, you can hire a taxi to Uttarkashi school. In other alternatives, you can hire a taxi to Dehradun bus stand, then take the bus to Uttarkashi.
Moreover, the travel desk team from Yoga Bhawna Mission can also assist you in booking a private car or taxi from Jolly Grant Airport (DED) to the training center at a cost of 60 USD. You can also share the private taxi cost with other students who are coming for the same course, as well as on the same date and flight with you. Also, Jolly Grant Airport (DED) is a very small airport and has only limited flights arrival. In the past, most of the students prefer to share the taxi to save cost and they enjoy the ride while getting to know their batchmate. You can either come to Dehradun or Rishikesh from New Delhi, you are strongly advised to inform Yoga Bhawna Mission's travel desk team in advance so that they can help you with the arrangement of a bus ticket from New Delhi. Please note that bus ticket is not included in the course fee and you will be charged extra.
The dedicated travel desk from Yoga Bhawna Mission will assist you while booking your bus ticket. Please note that if you are coming from New Delhi by bus, then ideally you should travel down to Dehradun. However, if you plan to arrive at Rishikesh, you will need to inform Yoga Bhawna Mission team in advance so that they can arrange to pick you up from Rishikesh with nominal extra charge. Please check the taxi fare in advance from Yoga Bhawna Mission team.
You can book Shatabdi Express that runs every day from New Delhi to Dehradun railways station. You are advised to inform Yoga Bhawna Mission in advance so that the team can assist in booking railway ticket for you to have a smooth arrival followed by an escorted guide. Please note that the train ticket is not included in the course fee and will be charged extra as per the railway fare.
If you are more adventurous and want to explore by your own from New Delhi to Dehradun or Rishikesh, then please read the following instruction. Depending on the time your plane arrives in Delhi, taking a bus can be a tricky option. The Volvo buses from Delhi to Dehradun stop running around 8:00 p.m. If your plane arrives in Delhi during the evening, you will have to stay a night at a hotel, then make your way to Delhi ISBT (inter-state bus terminus) in the morning.
From the airport, hire a prepaid taxi and travel to Delhi ISBT. You are strongly advised to only go hire a taxi from the government-approved taxi stand, which is located right outside the airport exit. Generally, the price from the Delhi airport to Delhi ISBT is approximately 700 INR. Once you arrive at Delhi ISBT, navigate your way to the bus station’s ticket stands on the second level, then go up the escalator. Moving on, head towards the Uttarakhand State booth and check when is the next Volvo bus will depart for Dehradun. The bus ticket approximately costs between 800 to 900 INR, while the normal bus ticket cost between 300 to 400 INR.
You should get off the bus at Dehradun bus station, which is usually their last stop if their destination is Dehradun. Once you arrive at Dehradun bus station, you can take the local bus to Uttarkashi. The ticket costs approximately between 250 to 300 INR.
