With Stephanie, you will learn how art is a way to allow integration and processing of information on a deeper level. Throughout the yoga teacher training you will be able to participate in an art experiential daily. The art is focused on the process of art and not the product, although every piece of art is unique and beautiful in its own way. No experience is necessary to create art, and many find it fun and relaxing. The art experiential’s will coincide with the training topics to assist in deepening the understanding of certain concepts, poses and mudras.
As a yoga teacher, these are techniques that you could incorporate into your practice either one-on-one or at a workshop. The time for art allows a deepening of the relationship to self and builds rapport among students. Many times, people will talk 2-3 times more while creating art unless instructed to make it a meditate practice which is another great way to use art. Many people have not created art since childhood and this brings back a sense of playfulness and joy. During yoga emotions can arise and art can be another way for participants to release and process the emotions that might have come up.
Each day an art directive will be introduced, an intention set, a short-guided meditation and with some directives mudras and poses will be introduced along with the art. This is a time of self-care during the training with art focused on giving back to self and others.
You will leave the yoga teacher training with a small collection of art created daily during the training, these art pieces can help you remember your time during training, help access the learning that is stored in the body in order to assist in remembering what you have learned, the relationships you built with yourself and others during the yoga teacher training. The art pieces can be used as a focus for meditation, journal prompts and further creation of art.
Restorative yoga has many benefits. The major one is that it gives the body and mind an opportunity to completely relax. This is important as we are always going, going, going - spending a lot of our time in "fight or flight" mode. When our bodies have the chance to tap into the parasympathetic nervous system, it can heal. Restorative yoga is an amazing class on its own or a great way to end a more physical practice.
Tami will teach restorative yoga and how to work with students who have suffered through trauma. She will show you how to use a variety of props to assist the student to fully relax. She will teach how to observe the body. You will learn how to sequence a full length restorative class as well as how to bring some restorative yoga into your weekly classes.
As an advocate for women who have experienced extensive trauma, you will learn how to use language in a way to that supports the student. Specific sequencing will be provided.
All levels welcome. You do not need to be able to do advanced poses to be in this training. You must have a willingness to learn the course material.
Together, the group will take off for an afternoon of exploration in a local town. Try out local cuisine, shop or stroll on the beach!
Hike to a gorgeous, off-the-beaten-path waterfall, through the jungle. Dive into freshwater pools and enjoy the natural beauty!
It's almost like your own secluded beach with very few people and beautiful location and sunsets!
