The "Monastery of San Girolamo" is a magnificent Renaissance monument wrapped in the majestic arms of centuries-old oaks. Finished in 1503 by Don Ghisello Vandini of the noble Vandini family, Capitani di Frontino can be defined as from the Renaissance period. Inside you can find a spacious room, finely decorated with wonderful period frescoes; if needed it will be used for yoga and meditative activities.

When the weather allows you, it is preferred to be outdoors: there is no shortage of space here, they have a wonderful cloister and a lush garden all around the structure. Alternatively, comfortable gazebos especially set up can be used for practicing yoga sheltering you from the summer rain, without having to give up contact with mother nature. The ancient church, now deconsecrated, is available for various activities.

Overview

The time has come to open your own yoga school, making the most of all those hours spent practicing and all those lessons you have been learning over the last years that today make you an expert and a recognized person. You only need to take that extra little step to put it all into action and so it becomes real.

This 300- hour advanced course for yoga instructors, at the San Girolamo Monastery in Frontino, Italy, is a real opportunity, offering you the possibility to raise your level of knowledge of yoga and its teaching. You will be able to reach a level that will leave no doubts about your preparation.

In the first phase of the advanced yoga course, YogaMea put all the teachers who have registered, on the same level and they do this by first sharing their individual experiences. The sooner you get to know each other and the sooner you will understand the level of preparation of each person present on the course. From this point onwards their job of leveling begins which will enable those who are slightly behind to reach the same level as the others. Once this is done, you can begin the process of building your own teaching methods. The study of the Advanced Asanas, is the second phase of the course; here you focus on the anatomy of the human body and its use during the practice of yoga positions. A person's safety is the most important aspect of your work. Exactly for this reason, at YogaMea Schoo, they pay serious attention to this aspect, encouraging their future instructors to always assess possible risks. In doing so, they will always be in a position to intervene where necessary. During a normal yoga class, your egos can cause you to do things that are beyond your reach: you can forget who you are, and push yourselves beyond your real limits and this can be the cause of various injuries, more or less serious.

When everything is clear to the student and his/her knowledge of the asanas is complete, then the third phase begins, which is allocated to teaching practice using one's classmates. The fourth phases’ goal is to put the student who participates in the advanced course in a realistic 'Instructor - Student' situation and you do it with the help of people who are not part of the study group. You will invite guests who take part in other courses, such as the 200-hour course, or even people present at the yoga retreat to come and participate. Evaluation and e-certification

  • Final evaluation of the teaching: At the end of the third week, students will have the possibility on their own initiative to select a suitable time slot within which to teach the final 90-minute lesson.
  • The training culminates with students teaching a 90-minute asana lesson to their classmates under the observation of an RYS instructor. Students are required to incorporate as many elements of asana, pranayama, mantra chanting, meditation into their final asana lesson as possible, including the use of Sanskrit terms with translation into English for most of the sequence. The RYS teacher will observe cueing, sequencing, proper ethical use of physical adjustments, verbal regulation, modification, the correct technique in instruction and alignment, knowledge of the teacher when discussing precautions.
  • Verbal Presentation: Prepare a 30-minute seminar on Yoga Anatomy and Physiology or Yoga Philosophy topics to share with your classmates under the observation of an RYS teacher. The workshops are held during the last week of the course.
  • Self-Assessment: Students will provide a self-assessment in two ways: written and verbal format.
  • Written self-assessment: The first self-assessment is provided in the form of students' answers to the first Yoga Philosophy homework assignment question: according to your ideas what are the requirements to become a yoga teacher and why do you want (or what inspired you) to become a yoga teacher.
  • Verbal self-assessment: The second self-assessment is provided in the form of students' self-assessment after their final teaching experience. The teachers/students are asked to share with the RYS teacher and their classmates what they did well and what their overall experience of teaching a full 90- minute lesson was, before receiving feedback from the RYS teacher and their fellow students.
  • Student conduct and compliance with the Code of Conduct are part of the overall assessment.
  • Students must maintain a 90% attendance rate for the duration of the course in order to qualify for the final assessment.
  • Yoga teachers who have completed all requirements of the 300 Hour Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Course will receive a certificate confirming that they have completed all the training requirements and the teaching experiences in accordance with the standards of Yoga Alliance, USA.

Arrival at the training

Arrival and check-in are on Sunday after 2 p.m. (the day before lessons begin). Lessons start on Monday morning and end on Saturday evening of the fourth and final week. Check-out is on Sunday morning of the fourth week before 10 a.m. and after breakfast.
