Programa
Program
This yoga teacher training is a holistic program; to understand yoga, one must first understand their body, mind, and spirit. The four directions of the Native American medicine wheel will be used as a guide and foundational structure for the course. Within each direction, the course will focus on different types of movement, diet, and meditation. SYI brings to life the ancient teachings of yoga through accessible spiritual lessons, a solid foundation in yogic philosophy, and a daily yoga practice.
During this yoga teacher training in Peru, you will share the teachings of yoga applied to daily living, connect through provoking cosmic wisdom, and learn shamanic healing practices of the Andes. There will be personal retreat days of silence and fasting, allowing for a deep integration of course offerings. There is a strong Bhakti component in this training, as your guides bring you into the daily experience of bliss, devotion, and self-realization through mantras, songs, and chanting.
Core curriculum
Sadhana yoga is the yoga of spiritual practice. Derived from different yoga traditions, such as Ashtanga Vinyasa, Sivananda, and Iyengar, it is designed beyond form and tradition and aims to encompass the essence of yoga and spirituality as a practice of union.
SYI focuses on the roots of yoga tradition, where yoga is used as an instrument to reveal the truth of our existence as spiritual beings. School Yoga Institute honors all traditions of yoga and shares two foundational sequences at the 200-hour level.
These sequences are the Sadhana Vinyasa flow and Sadhana Hatha flow, based primarily on the Ashtanga and Sivananda sequences respectively, and together, these allow students to develop any style of class they feel called to share.
