Yogakulam Academy School, situated in Bengaluru, the world capital of yoga, is now conducting an online 95-hour Kids Yoga Teacher Training Course. Kids Yoga Teacher’s Training includes all elements of fun, education, and creativity in teaching yoga to kids. Students will learn to help kids manage their physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing through yoga postures, creative breathing practices, Mindfulness, and meditation.

How the training works

This training is held online. There will be two hours of session per day (except Sundays) You will need a reliable internet connection and the Zoom app to participate in the online sessions.

Timing of sessions (GMT+5:30)

The exact timing of the sessions will be informed to participants.

Module 1

  • Day 1: Intro - Why yoga for kids, benefits of yoga, etc. Ice-breaking activities, why teaching yoga to kids is different than adults, intro to breathing, and creative warm-ups for kids
  • Day 2: Breathing games, age-appropriate teaching kids yoga - Development stages two to four and four to six years
  • Day 3: Teaching techniques for six to eight years old
  • Day 4: Creative ways of practicing kid's yoga - yoga stories, yoga themes and yoga journeys, yoga games 1
  • Day 5: Yoga games-2, techniques for holding the poses for longer, how to make yoga interesting and engaging for kids, kids yoga poses, and sequencing
  • Day 6: Mindfulness and meditation to kids, techniques for teaching relaxation
  • Day 7: Visualization, body scan, meditation activities, and mindfulness
  • Day 8: Class structure, positive behavior management, practice, lesson plan practice, best practices of kid's yoga, preparation for kids yoga
  • Day 9: Module 1 presentation

Module 2: Tweenies and teens

  • Day 10: Teaching yoga to tweens, development stages, and teaching techniques, introducing sun salutation, pranayama
  • Day 11: Teaching yoga to tweens, games and activities, how to make yoga fun for this age group
  • Day 12: Teaching yoga to teens, brain development, yoga poses, and pranayama
  • Day 13: Teaching yoga to teens-2, managing anxiety & stress with yoga, yoga games and relaxation for teens

Module 3: Teaching yoga philosophy to kids

  • Day 15: Yamas, Niyamas, Mudras for kids
  • Total hours: 2 hours

Modules 4 and 5: Anatomy and special needs I Establishing kid's yoga business

  • Day 18: Children safety and eye exercise

  • Day 19: Kid's yoga business

Please note for the certificate, attending the presentations for both modules one and two is mandatory.

Course information

The training includes all elements of fun, education, and creativity in teaching yoga to kids. Students will learn to help kids manage their physical, emotional, and mental well-being through yoga postures, creative breathing practices, mindfulness, and meditation. In this training, you will learn to teach yoga to kids through a creative and interactive format. You will learn all the important tools to teach yoga postures, breathing, and relaxation.

Curriculum

Module 1 - Kid's yoga foundation and yoga for the little ones (three to eight years old)

In this module, the training will start by preparing you to work with the children by supporting you to understand the foundation of yoga and the key principles of teaching kids yoga. The training will prepare you to work with children by helping you understand the development stages of the brain, body, children's behavior, and learning capabilities.

The big focus of module 1 is to learn age-wise teaching methodology to ensure you always have a fun, engaging, and interactive kid's yoga class both in person and online that helps kids with their physical, emotional, and mental well-being through yoga, meditation, and mindfulness. You will also learn creative ways of practicing yoga, breathing, meditation, and mindfulness with kids through stories, yoga games, and yoga themes that are fun, safe, and meaningful for each of the age groups.

Module 2: Tweenies and teens

Tween and teen years are a special phase where children are going through many changes on physical, mental, and emotional levels. They are the in-between phase of being a child who was so protected to a teenager who wants to explore this outside world now. There is always self-doubt, whether this is right or wrong, whether they should do and take a risk or play safe. They are trying to find their own answers and identity and trying to accept themselves.

In module 2, you will learn to use tools of yoga, breathing techniques, and meditation to support tweens and teens in self-awareness and self-regulation, giving them the ability and power to understand themselves, release emotions, anxiety and bring themselves back to a place of stillness, calm, and control. Let the session provide those through yoga postures, breathing, and relaxation, a tool kit to support and manage life's challenges that will enhance their spiritual, mental, and emotional journey in their growing years.

Module 3: Teaching yoga philosophy to kids

In this module, the training will include how to introduce yoga philosophies, the eight limbs of yoga (Yama's, Niyama's, etc.), mudras, and mantras in a creative and relevant way that kids can understand and connect with. You will also learn about the Chakra System (the energetic body), and how this is relevant and beneficial to children and teens.

Module 4 - Anatomy of kid's yoga

Learn basic human anatomy for Kids that you can apply to your classes for safe yoga practice. Learn the development stages of the brain and body for each age group to have meaningful yoga practices and essential alignments for kids' yoga.
