- ULU Yoga offers the perfect balance of structured yoga training and life changing experience in paradise. Instructors are warm hearted and highly experienced. The course continuously improves, running every month since 2014 and certifying thousands of new teachers.
Alternative Options
- If you only have a short time available you can choose to do 14 days / 100 hours onsite and 100 hours online.
- If you want a deeper connection with the group you can choose to do 21 days onsite and 50 hours online.

Yoga Practice
Each morning begins with a two hour guided class of hatha or vinyasa yoga.
- Each class includes pranayama and meditation, options for beginner and intermediate levels, hands on adjustments, and a follow up feedback session.
- 21 day and Intermediate courses will explore more advanced poses and include specialized themes like chakra awakening, trauma release, advanced transitions, creative sequencing and much more.
Asana Lab
Each day you will receive detailed instruction on core hatha yoga asanas to build a solid foundation.
- Learn correct alignment, technique, variations for different levels, and modifications with props.
- Connect poses with breath and movement to build creative vinyasa flow sequences.
- Integrate energetic and bio mechanic components to improve alignment and technique.
- 21 day and Intermediate courses explore more advanced asanas, plus the requisite steps to achieve them safely over time.
Workshops for Aerial, Acro, and Yin Yoga
Each day you will receive a special workshop to deepen your practice and provide you with a dynamic skillset.
- Aerial yoga is one of ULU Yoga's greatest specialties! You will love training with their cushioned swings. Learn to cure back pain with traction and inversions.
- Acro yoga is a fun challenge, helping you to elevate your sense of balance and engagement, becoming more self aware by connecting with others.
- Yin yoga, yoga nidra and restorative yoga help you to relieve stress, break up scar tissue, and promote healing through fascia release, as well as letting go of stored trauma.
- 21 day and Intermediate courses include additional workshops for kirtan, advanced transitions, creative sequencing, traditional tantra hatha yoga, Kundalini yoga, yogic massage, somatic movement and more.
Meditation
- Learn various techniques including vipassana (insight meditation), mantra meditation (spiritual recitation), trataka (candle gazing), walking meditation, gratitude meditation, yoga nidra and trauma release.
- 21 day and Intermediate courses spend go deeper into the energetic and physiological benefits of these techniques.
Pranayama
- Learn Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), Kapalabhati (skull shining breath), Bhramari (humming bee), Ujjayi (victory breath), Bhastrika (fire breath), Dirga (three part breath), Shitali (cooling breath, Viloma (against the wave).
- 21 day and Intermediate courses spend go deeper into the energetic and phisiological benefits of these techniques.
Teaching skills
ULU Yoga is very proud of having a high success rate of producing quality instructors who get jobs soon after completing their training.

- Teach a 60min class every week and receive detailed feedback to grow and develop professionally.

Anatomy
Each week you will have one or two anatomy workshops
- Gain a deeper understanding of bodily systems and structures
- Learn about bones, muscles, fascia, joints and nervous system
- Explore how this all works together with hands on bio mechanic workshops
- Learn about different body types to give more precise adjustments and cueing.
- Go beyond the body and explore the science of integrating energetics into the asanas.

Philosophy
Discover your true self and the deeper nature of reality through the sacred wisdom of ancient yogic philosophy.
- Incorporate these lessons in the real world to cultivate a holistic yoga lifestyle.
- Topics include the yoga sutras by Patanjali, 8 limbs of yoga, chakras, gunas, doshas.
- 21 day and Intermediate courses have more time to discuss hinduism, mythology, ayurveda, tantra, and kundalini, mantras and chanting.

Beach Yoga
ULU Yoga also provides fun activities to celebrate life.
- Beach Yoga is a transformational experience allowing you to connect with the divine through nature. One day you will practice at beautiful Haad Yao Beach, which has gorgeous turquoise waters and golden sunsets.
SUP Yoga
- Stand up paddle board is a challenging adventure. During the break time you can use the SUP boards on your own to practice. Floating above the sparkling waters activates your stabilizer muscles to give you a new sense of balance.
Self studies
During the onsite training you should do 1-2 hours of daily self study outside of class:
- Reading the training manual
- Reviewing your notes
- Designing your original class
- Journal assignments-online studies
- This course has 50 hours of required online study
- You will receive lifetime access to the complete online YTT, which has hundreds of videos covering all topics.
- You should try to complete your online work before the onsite training, but you can continue after and take up to one year to finish.
- You can follow the online YTT in order or skip around and choose what best serves your needs and interests.
- It is recommended to focus on Anatomy and Philosophy, which require additional reading.
- If you miss some onsite classes you can do additional online work as make up.
Certificate
At the end of the onsite training you will receive a certificate stating the total number of hours you have completed onsite and online up to that point.
- When you have completed all requirements you will receive a certificate of full completion and become qualified to teach vinyasa yoga all over the world.

Excursies
One morning, you will do yoga at the resort's private beach and take amazing pictures.
You will also visit the sauna and ice bath for refreshment and detox.
There are so many wonderful beaches to explore just a few minutes walk! The resort has a small private beach. Next door is the long and wide Haad Yao beach with many great restaurants and fun activities. On the other side is Secret beach with shady trees and a relaxing vibe.
Additionally, Ulu Yoga includes a nature hike to one of the world's most beautiful viewpoints. It will feel like you are at the top of the world where the most beautiful greens meet the most stunning turquoises.
Furthermore, sup-yoga classes are included in the package, and Ulu Yoga Supboards are available for use during your free time.
Instructeurs
Janine Behrendt
Janine’s Yoga journey started in 2008 and completed trainings in Trimurti Yoga, Jivamukti Yoga, Insight Yoga, Yin Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Yoga Therapy. She has instructed on dozens of Yoga Teacher Trainings focussing on the Yin Yoga method and Alignment & Adjustments for Yang Yoga, the art of teaching and sequencing. Having been a gymnast and professional dancer since early childhood, Yoga was her gateway into recovering the physical body from aesthetically demanding postures. Janine believes that Yoga is for everyone and should be taught in an inclusive way with a down-to-earth approach.
Locatie
Koh Phangan, Thailand is a world famous magical bohemian paradise with no big crowds or traffic.
This course takes place at a beautiful beachfront resort in Haad Yao. Nearby are many great restaurants, boutique shops, live music and dancing. Koh Phangan is Thailand's 5th biggest island and one of the most beautiful and wild. Located 70 km from the mainland and just 12 km from Koh Samui, Phangan does not have an airport and relies heavily on ferries from the mainland and Koh Samui to transportation visitors.
Online training
50 hours of this course must be completed online via the Thinkific platform. You can work at your own pace and take up to two years to complete.

Ulu Yoga Thailand packages include a delightful breakfast and lunch menu.
Your breakfast menu features an extensive selection of Western-inspired breakfast dishes, each carefully crafted to ensure a lovely start to your day after your morning Asana session.
Your Thai Lunch Buffet promises not just a meal, but a cultural journey through flavors. For dinner, you can eat at the resort or go to one of the many nearby beach restaurants only a few steps away from our location.
The Ulu Yoga team will encourage, but not force you to make healthy choices.
&There are many wonderful local markets, beach bars, and boutique cafes to explore. These include Locco’s Pizza, Coco Locco's on the Beach which offers a large variety of food (incl. Locco's pizza on the same menu), Amara, Vagga, Seaboard's Restaurant, and Bubba’s Roastery. If you head out to Srithanu or Hin Kong we recommend Taboon, Sea Tara, Karma Cafe, Eat Co., Sati Pot, Alcove, and Chana Masala. If you venture off to the Ban Tai area, Harmony Beach Club is the place to be.

There are so many wonderful additional activities that you can explore on Koh Phangan such as: ecstatic dance, kirtan, sound healing, snorkeling, diving, night markets, temples, live music, waterfalls, mountain treks, endless beaches, and parties.
Spa behandelingen
During this course, you will have the opportunity to purge your body of toxins in the sauna and rejuvenate with an ice bath to boost your immune system, reduce inflammation, and reduce stress.
Sound healing and kirtan are sometimes offered at the venue, but they are not guaranteed. Training package does not include spa treatment or ice bath. Trainees will pay for these services. Per person, the whole treatment costs only 250 THB.

Plan to fly into Bangkok early morning to streamline connecting flights and ferries to Koh Phangan all in one day.
From Bangkok, take a flight to Koh Samui Airport (1 hour, 100 to 150 THB), then take a ferry to Koh Phangan (30 minute, 400 THB), then take a taxi to Haad Yao Bayview Resort (20 minute, 200 THB).
A cheaper option is from Bangkok, take a flight to Surat Thani Airport (1 hour, 40 to 60 THB), then take a bus and ferry to Koh Phangan (4.5 hours, 400 THB), then take a taxi to Haad Yao Bayview Resort (20 minutes, 200 THB).
Arrival by ferry
