Rolling hills, endless golden beaches, scrumptious cuisine, and astonishing historical sites have always attracted visitors to Italy, one of the most beautiful Southern European countries.

Although the locals have only quite recently hopped on the yoga wagon, the ideal combination of great weather year-round and superb nature has led to the opening of an abundance of yoga retreats and yoga teacher training courses in Italy.

If you are looking to deepen your yoga practice or want to become a yoga teacher, there’s no better place than Bella Italia to join a yoga teacher training course.

History of Yoga in Italy

Yoga is quite a new addition to the Italian lifestyle.

Post-war Italy offered a great opportunity for new experiences and by the late 1940s there were already yoga classes taking place in the country. This also led to the opening of the yoga institute in Milan in 1965.

The practice grew in the 21st century and by 2017, there were 830 recognized yoga schools in the country.

Therefore, it comes to no surprise that nowadays Italy is a popular destination for yoga tourism, with retreats and courses being held in various languages.
