Style of yoga

While hatha yoga is at the core of what Blue Osa do, they differentiate themselves by offering a holistic approach to yoga that emphasizes function over form. They believe yoga should be tailored to the individual, and that a good yoga teacher knows how to facilitate a unique practice to meet unique needs.

The Blue Osa YTT methodology has been influenced by multiple traditions, including Vinyasa, Iyengar, and Anusara yogas.

Yogi Aaron has spent a considerable amount of time in India and has been taught directly from the Himalayan Tradition. Aaron also has a strong background in yoga therapy and brings in therapeutic elements when appropriate.

Book reports

To award you the yoga teacher certification, you must complete the book reports.

The book reports are due 3 months after the end of the yoga teacher training Immersion. For example, if the completion of the Immersion is November 16, then the book reports will be due the following February 16.

Besides the 3 months following the yoga teacher training, Blue Osa gives you plenty of time during the immersion.

You may also complete the book reports before the beginning of the immersion.

Once registered, you may begin working on your assignments. They give you instructions for the book reports once you have registered

The business aspect of yoga

You will spend some time discussing the logistics of developing your own business as a yoga teacher. Subjects to be discussed include how to find your first customers, how much to charge, where to teach, and best practices for growing your business.

As a former NYC yoga studio owner and as current co-owner of Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa, Aaron has a wealth of knowledge available in this area, and will kindly field questions.

Yoga skill level required

Even if you are relatively new to yoga, this yoga teacher training immersion is an excellent way to learn the art of yoga and cultivate a strong foundation for your life-long practice.

One of the strengths of Blue Osa's approach to yoga is how adaptable it is to the student. No matter where you are, there is a practice for you.

And frankly, some of the best teachers are the ones who can’t contort their bodies into pretzel shapes. Their limitations end up being an asset to their students.

Continued support after your training

Also included in the yoga teacher training at Blue Osa is access to the Online Resource Library and the Self-Study Modules, which are a unique element of Blue Osa’s Yoga Teacher Training that sets it apart from other programs available today. Previous students have found it extremely valuable in developing their teaching once back home.

The self-study portion includes:

  • 6 months of FREE access to the resource library
  • Ability to prepare in advance of your training if you wish (access is given prior to your training start date)
  • Post-immersion support as you continue to study, learn, absorb, and embody the training content while completing all required assignments This feature makes it possible for students to relax, explore, and enjoy the wild nature of Blue Osa outside of scheduled classroom time during their immersion (rather than filling free time with reading, studying, and completing required homework).
  • Access to an entire resource library of yoga content to propel your practice and teaching forward, including yoga classes, meditations, workshops, and specialty courses like ‘How to Sell Out Your Yoga Retreats’ and ‘Business and Marketing for Yoga Teachers’.

Additionally, after the training, Blue Osa offers ongoing support and communication with participants to ensure they leave Blue Osa as a safe, confident yoga instructor at no additional charge.

Farm-to-table cuisine

Inspired by Chef Marie, the vegan-based menu at Blue Osa is built around local produce and ingredients. The organic garden provides much of the food that’s harvested daily and ensures that only the freshest ingredients land on your plate. Nourish your body with three delicious, locally sourced meals daily. Plus, enjoy all-day access to tea, coffee, water, and fresh fruit/snacks.

Healthy farm-to-table

Experience a culinary mouthwatering sensation. The organic permaculture farm supplies fruit, veggies, and herbs that make the food at Blue Osa both flavorful and nutritious. At the core of being eco-friendly, Blue Osa’s farm-to-table cuisine invites you to experience the freshest possible ingredients that are hand-picked daily.

Food Overview

Since Blue Osa is committed to a smaller carbon footprint, healthy meals made with ingredients from their own farm at Blue Osa are mainly vegetarian. They rely on their garden and those other local and regional farms to provide them with what is seasonally available. Their cooks make a variety of vegan recipes using this food from the Blue Osa harvest or received from their fellow farmers.

They do provide eggs for breakfast and meat options 2 times a week at dinner. If you think that you will be hungry at other times during the day, please bring extra snacks.

Please note that Blue Osa do not provide individually cooked meals, and they do not provide kosher meals. You should also remember that while they can serve some gluten-free options, they are not a gluten-free kitchen.
