I completed the Blue Osa Costa Rica Yoga Teacher Training in November 2011. I can state that the course, taught exclusively by Yogi Aaron, had a strong emphasis on academics–including the scientific and philosophical foundations of hatha yoga. The reading list was comprehensive and included text reading assignments and handouts. Daily physical practice included varying types of meditation, asana and pranayama. If you are considering this training, be assured you will have challenging assignments to complete and ample opportunity for hands-on teaching to fellow students as well as guests of Blue Osa with varying levels of experience. You will also have the opportunity to teach to students with specific health concerns/challenges. I very much enjoyed being taught by Aaron for many reasons but most importantly, even though participating with other students, he taught to me as an individual–focusing specifically and working with me on exactly where I was at in my life as a student. In terms of the physical surroundings, Blue Osa is a paradise. The vision that Blue Osa has manifested in the tiny country of Costa Rica is to be deeply respected. The guest accommodations are beautiful and comfortable–allowing your body adequate rest, recovery and relaxation during the course. The staff were completely devoted to us as students and never hesitated to provide upon any request that I had. Without reserve or hesitation I endorse the Blue Osa Costa Rica Yoga Teacher Training.

Blue Osa itself was amazing – from the scarlet macaws to the beach to Marie’s great cooking. But the best part was working with Aaron and the student teachers. When I went to Blue Osa for teacher training in 2011, my intent was to teach a class or two, substitute teach and grow my practice. From these experiences I now teach more, create new practices and continue to learn and grow more than I could have imagined. I now have my own studio and continue to be more passionate about yoga every day

Aaron was a delight and I thoroughly enjoyed his quirky sense of humor and his hearty laugh. Aaron exudes an air of acceptance so when you are with him you feel you can be totally yourself and there is no need to hide. He is very knowledgeable and it is clear that he is a well-practiced yogi with a lot of insight to share. He always stood firm in his beliefs and who he was and that is something I greatly admire, his sense of security.

Through Yogi Aaron, yoga teacher training has helped me not only become a good teacher but helped me grow into my most authentic self! If you’re serious about your yoga practice, whether you want to teach or not, I highly recommend you take teacher training! It’s very transformative. You’ll thank me when you’re done!

Yogi Aaron’s Yoga Teacher Training at Blue Osa is totally amazing in every way. I loved the structure and the length of the training. Even though 28 days seems like a long time to be away from your regular life, it’s actually a perfect amount of time to really learn how to teach yoga and to embody all of the practices Aaron shares with you. I was surprised by how easy it was to wake up with the sunrise every morning. I loved starting each day with the meditation and breathing exercises. I was so grateful for all the little things that were well planned and so thoughtful during my stay. The food was fresh, healthy, varied and delicious. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our rooms were cleaned every day and a laundry service was provided once a week. The grounds and surrounds are magnificent and being right on the beach were such a bonus. There was one afternoon when it was raining and umbrellas were left for us so we could walk the short distance to our rooms or the dining area without getting wet. I looked at quite a few options for YTT but kept coming back to Blue Osa. Trusting this decision is one of the best things I have ever done!! Thank you Blue Osa team!

Immediately upon arriving at Blue Osa, I felt so welcomed and cared for. Jorge greeted me with a smile and introduced himself, asking my name. He is such a charming fella who was always there to help me out with something or to be a friend to me, to listen to what I had to say or to joke around with. I am not afraid to say that I miss him! We were given a tour of the property during which I was nearly speechless. The layout of the property is incredible and every sight is so, so beautiful and holds something new or unexpected. All of the staff were so friendly from day 1 to day 30, as I was there for a month this past fall for my 200 hr. yoga teacher training. They made an effort to ask my name, even the chefs, and actually retained my name! (A tricky one that often takes people forever to pronounce.) When addressing me they often used my name and it was so sincere, how they really cared and took the time to do so. It felt like another home for me and was a place where I was well-cared for. The staff always helped me remember how glorious life is with their earnest smiles and greeting of "Pura Vida!". Olger especially, a member of the kitchen staff, was like a friendly uncle. One night I was even feeling sick and went to the kitchen. A member of the staff brought me water and sat with me for a few minutes to make sure I was alright, like a member of my family would have. Not only was the staff friendly and helpful, but their food! It was absolutely delicious. I anxiously awaited each meal to see what new delights they had cooked up. Even foods I would not have regularly eaten tasted surprisingly amazing. It was so good to know that everything was hand-crafted and often made with ingredients from the garden. Mmmmm, fresh. Aaron himself was a delight and I thoroughly enjoyed his quirky sense of humor and his hearty laugh. The landscape and scenery at Blue Osa speaks for itself. The beach is pristine and I had many soulful walks down it. The trees are vibrant and if you are lucky, you will catch some monkeys hanging around overhead! I was washing my feet one day and looked up to a monkey not more than 4 feet away, examining me and my strange human activities. One of the reasons I was so in love with Blue Osa was because of the animals on the premises. I am an avid animal lover and so to have the dogs and cats around made it feel even more like home. The animals immediately take you in and let you love them. They are friendly and so fun-loving. I got the biggest kick out of Pete rolling around in the surf, and Sukha the kitty always scoping out her next prey or romping through the plants. So, overall, I found my experience at Blue Osa to be loving, beautiful, and life-changing. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a tropical getaway with comfort also included. All of your needs will be taken care of, plus many more. Blue Osa will always hold an extremely special place in my heart and one day I hope to return.

What a lovely place! Hot, humid....but forgotten quickly because of the shady trees, warm ocean breeze and beautiful pool. I visited for a yoga retreat, fantastic open air studio overlooking beautiful landscape and flowering bushes with the ocean within sight. No music needed, the ocean, birds and monkeys provided the soothing surrounding sounds. The food was incredible and healthy, prepared for each meal lovingly by the friendly knowledgeable chef and staff. Everyone was friendly and warm, felt at home immediately. Do not miss the stars, I never saw so many many stars anywhere i have traveled. Blue Osa is a special spot of paradise!

I stayed for 7 days January 16-23. The temperatures ranged from 86 degrees F at night to 96 degrees F during the day. I had a wonderful room (#5 Bliss) that had windows on two sides on the beach side, although greenery has grown and hidden the view. Staying cool without air-conditioning in those temperatures was a challenge, but our whole group fared pretty well without many gripes. We all slowed down pretty quickly. The scenery is truly idyllic. The sound of the waves and birds was constantly lulling. The food was exquisite -- with a great many accommodations for my gluten free diet. Kudos to the kitchen staff. Every bite was a WOW! The ocean and pool were only a few degrees cooler than our body temperature, still we spent a lot of time in the water - because it was all so beautiful! The yoga studio was an extraordinary TEMPLE - a sacred space. We did not realize we in for "hot yoga" -- but gratefully, mats and towels were supplied. I enjoyed two of the massage sessions and one Reiki session. I went on the day long plane trip to Corcovada Park -- it is a good idea to plan a massage or foot treatment the next day. Many flora and fauna wonders to see. Terrific guide. I also enjoyed the boat trip across the bay to the animal sanctuary where a woman has been rescuing jungle animals for 20 years - many can be released back to the wild after rehabilitation.

The moment you enter the Blue Osa property, you will never want to leave. From the stunning natural beauty of the property to the welcoming smiles of each and every employee, it is very easy to feel immediately at home. I attended the YTT 200hr immersion course Oct-Nov 15 and found it to be an immensely spiritual and beautiful experience where I learned so much every day, about yoga and life. The accommodations were very comfortable and although there is no air-conditioning, the fans in the rooms do a great job and it feels great to wake up every morning not dehydrated from air conditioning as you do in most hotels and resorts. The beds are comfortable and bathrooms, although simple, are very comfortable. There are several different locations/styles of rooms so if you have specific requests or concerns I would recommend asking the Blue Osa team for guidance in which room you book. The grounds are beautiful and the center of the property is the yoga deck with a beautiful view of the ocean. It is a peaceful space with a magical combination of incorporating nature into a covered, safe space with amazing energy. The pool, next to the spa, was my personal favorite location on the grounds. The fresh water pool is a perfect place to swim laps and cool off during the hot afternoons. Both technicians at the spa that I had a service with were absolutely amazing - world class! I highly recommend a Reiki session or massage with Laura. Finally...THE FOOD! The food was the biggest surprise of my 30-day experience at Blue Osa. It was absolutely phenomenal. The kitchen staff works very hard to meet every guest's unique requests and create healthy, diverse, delicious options every day. In my research of yoga retreats, food doesn't always top the charts on the reviews but at Blue Osa it does. It is very relaxing and refreshing to not have to think or work to eat healthy - they make it so easy and such a pleasure. Although there are days off, I never left. It was paradise to me and found Yogi Aaron and his team to be truly gifted at what they are doing at Blue Osa and passionate about making your experience exceptional. I highly recommend a day, 2-day or 30-day visit to Blue Osa. I can't wait to go back!

My experience at Blue Osa went way beyond my expectations. The grounds are gorgeous, where the jungle meets the sea. It's a quiet oasis in the middle of nowhere, when you enter it truly feels like you have found Shangrila. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, the food is fantastic and healthy, the accommodations comfortable and spacious. The open air yoga space is wonderful, you can see the ocean, amazing birds and monkeys, hear and see the rain as you melt into deep relaxation. The heat and the pace slow you down, your heart and mind will get still. The staff makes you feel a part of their family and you feel so lucky to have found this secret treasure of a place. Blue Osa is the most healing and peaceful haven, I will definitely be going back next year.

As a yoga teacher, I have brought groups to retreat centers the world over but none come close to Blue Osa. The food, accommodations, friendly staff, glorious yoga room, and beachfront location, create the perfect atmosphere in which to heal the body, quiet the mind, and open the heart. Yoga teachers: bring a group to Blue Osa. Your students will love you for the experience!

We spent 6 nights (June 28-July 4 2012) at Blue Osa using a Groupon promotion. It was a trip of a lifetime. First off, my fiance proposed to me the 1st morning we woke up there to a beautiful sunrise on the beach. I have wanted to visit Costa Rica for years and this exceeded my expectations. At Blue Osa we enjoyed several of the activities and tours available. The staff was wonderful and friendly. There was a yoga retreat for instructors the week we were there and they allowed me and my fiance to join in their sessions. The massages were great, we were with young woman whose name has slipped my mind. We went on the Corcovado day trip (saw amazing wildlife), on the Rainforest Bike and Hike (saw more amazing wildlife and a small waterfall that flows into a nice sized pool), and we also did the Waterfall Rapelling. The Waterfall rapelling was awesome!!! The weather was hot but the rain in the late afternoon or evenings cooled it off for bedtime. It was a wonderful trip where we were able to relax in a peaceful atmosphere in the middle of a jungle with a beach and without all the chaos and technology that distracts us in our normal routines.

This was the perfect end of a very enjoyable exploration of Costa Rica. Blue Ossa, Costa Ricas Yoga Retreat on the Osa Peninsula is remote, beautiful, and very rejuvenating. The staff is wonderful and engaging without being obsequious. It felt more like a loose family than a resort. The food was delicious, and the deep tissue massage was the best I have ever had! In addition to the tranquility, there are tours (hikes, walks, kayaking, etc.) into the jungle and on the bay that add the right touch of interest and excitement. I particularly recommend the Bike and Hike to the waterfalls, where you can find many animals, including poisonous frogs, four types of monkeys, countless types of birds, and many other animals large and small. The cool swim at the base of a delightful waterfall was very fun and refreshing on a hot day and one of the many highlights of the day! The in-house tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Another real pleasure is talking with Marie about cooking, or discussing her history and experiences on the Ossa peninsula. One last thing not to be missed: There is a nearby local outdoor restaurant/bar that on Friday nights throws an energetic party with music, good drinks, and food. It is THE event for the local singles and families, and for those tourists that have the good fortune to hear about it! Pura Vida!

Blue Osa is one of the most beautiful resorts I have been to. You will find the ground immaculate, there is wildlife galore, the views of the beach and the jungle are out of this world. The staff (Especially the chef, Marie) will amaze you with their hospitality and outstanding service. I could write an entire review on just the food, everything is fresh, homemade & delicious. I agree with the rest of the reviews, this isnt a place for you if you are looking for 5 star pampered vacation. Although the spa treatments left me feeling MORE than pampered!
