Why study with Breath Body Earth?
You study the physical practice of yoga (asana) through Vinyasa and Hatha style approaches.
About half of your time together will be spent learning about the physical practice of yoga (asana). You will have daily workshops where you break down each posture, learn how to spot and correct misalignment, and develop a healthy sense of the body from pose to pose. You will have plenty of time to develop your physical practice and explore new ways of moving.
The program's approach to asana is somatic. This means you are far more concerned with the sensations of the pose than the aesthetic. Instead of being goal-oriented, we are process-driven with no right or wrong and a strong focus on the correct alignment for your body.
The Breath Body Earth team's style of teaching has evolved from exposure to many talented and powerful teachers who have encouraged them to not only focus on the physical but also to dive deep into philosophy and adapt it for modern-day living.
The subtle, unexplainable, and mystical is important to Breath Body Earth. You explore the body from both anatomical and energetic perspectives, spending time studying alignment, anatomy, the chakras, and the power of the breath.
Your development is important to them, and they want to support you by offering 1-on-1 mentorships for their students after the course to help you realize your goals and support you in creating long-lasting change.

FAQs
Do I need to aspire to be a yoga teacher to take a yoga teacher training?
No. Yoga teacher trainings are the next step for many who seek to deepen their practice, understanding, and knowledge of yoga. For Breath Body Earth, yoga teacher trainings are also a beautiful initiation into a deeper understanding of life. They include somatics, embodiment work, meditation, and many other tools for navigating and responding to day-to-day living. Many who take yoga teacher trainings find that the spark of inspiration is ignited within them and the doors are open to study a variety of different healing modalities such as naturopathy, mind-body nutrition, spiritual business coaching, women's circle facilitation, kinesiology, and so much more.
Do I need to have a high level of practice to take a yoga teacher training?
No. Breath Body Earth welcomes people of all levels to their trainings. Yoga does not discriminate, and neither do they. In their ideal world, everyone would feel welcome to practice yoga regardless of ability, size, gender, ethnicity, or expression. In their trainings, they put a big focus on how to teach beginners and how to create a space that is safe for everyone.
Since I have not studied in a while, will this be too much for me?
The theory side of the 200-hour training can feel like a lot. The main piece of advice around this is to not worry too much about ‘memorizing’ it all. Yoga is a lifelong journey; you will revisit this material many more times, and each time it will resonate in a different way. You are not graded on your ability to remember anatomy, philosophy, or history—everything is an offering to you to deepen your self-awareness and knowledge, and the more you revisit it, the more it will stick.
Will I be ready to teach a class after the training?
You will have the opportunity to practice teaching almost every day of the training. Breath Body Earth works through the postures methodically, as well as having lectures on cueing, instruction, props, variations, and general teaching methodology, so that when you leave you already have all the tools you need to teach a full class.
Instructors
Melissa Coton
After living most of her life as Melissa thought she should, studying, and working in the corporate world, spending money on things that brought her temporary fulfillment, she found yoga, or it found her; either way, she fell in love with the practice in such a way that she felt called to share it with others. She has been guiding classes, workshops and retreats ever since and continues to be amazed by the healing and transforming powers of breath, movement, stillness, intention, and connection and is grateful every day for the opportunity to share these practices with others.

Her approach is centered on offering her students a space where they feel safe to be in their bodies and safe to be themselves. In her workshops and classes, she weaves in elements of embodiment, self-inquiry and mindfulness. Emilie aspires to show up with vulnerability and authenticity, knowing that when we express ourselves authentically, we invite others to do the same
