Program
The Somatic teachings for the weekend will, by their nature, be fluid, explorative, restorative, and meditative, and influenced by practices such as Feldenkrais, Qi Gong, and others that step away from an emphasis on reaching particular forms or goals within asana. Through embodied awareness, there will be an emphasis on recognising and offering kind attention to the habits and expectations that may be repeated in work and personal life.
For yoga teachers or yoga therapists, the training offers 8 hours of CPD/CE, which can also be counted towards the required hours for the Somatic Therapeutic Yoga Training.

Food
Since ethical, sustainable living is central to everything at Emerson, the food is made from seasonal, locally sourced, organic produce wherever possible. Much of it is grown in the biodynamic garden and greenhouses. All meals need to be pre-booked, which minimises food waste. The team actively composts to support the soil health of the garden.
Fresh, delicious homegrown and cooked food is prepared daily with love and care by the experienced kitchen team at Emerson. All meals are vegetarian, with vegan and gluten-free options available. There are set mealtimes, as food is believed to bring people together. The ringing of the gong announces that lunch or supper is ready to be served, calling people from classrooms, offices, and houses.
The meals are vegetarian, and the kitchen can also cater for the diets listed below:
- Vegetarian – no meat, fish, or any products derived from slaughtered animals (rennet, gelatine, lard, fish oils, etc.)
- Vegan – as for vegetarians, plus no products from any living animal such as milk (cows’, goats’, or ewes’), cheese, eggs, cream, lactose, honey, etc.
- Gluten-free – no products containing gluten, such as wheat, oats, spelt, or rye. Suitable starches used include buckwheat, millet, rice, and potatoes
- Dairy-free – dairy products are derived exclusively from milk. Milk is obtained from animals including cows, goats, sheep, and buffalo. Alternatives to milk are always available as standard, for example rice or soya drink
Unfortunately, the venue is not able to cater for further allergies and intolerances. Self-catering facilities are available if needed.
