The timeless beauty of Villa Dei Cipressi, nestled on the highest hilltop of the Sona Village, is both enchanting and inviting. Her classically elegant architecture and design are said to date back to the end of the ninth century. Spacious rooms are tastefully decorated with antique furniture including many beautiful art deco pieces, original artworks, exquisite lighting, ancient tiles, linen drapes, and luxurious bedding. You will begin each day with a beautiful morning yoga practice in the panoramic sunroom facing the park.

The grand estate, recognized as a Heritage Site, spreads out over 28 hectares including vineyards, olive groves, and gardens with Villa del Cipressi centered as the crown jewel. Just outside the villa are ancient coniferous and cypress trees, a rose garden, a lily pond with a fountain, a bamboo grove with an outdoor pizza oven, an expansive lawn, a swimming pool, and several cozy seating areas to relax, contemplate and enjoy the breathless views of the Verona Valley with a delicious glass of wine cultivated right on the property.

All of this and more create a romantic, dream-like atmosphere in exclusive privacy. This property, at about 200 meters above sea level, is part of the Garda Lake Morainic amphitheater. The unique geologic formation is composed of many horseshoe-shaped hills carved out by glaciers and streams 100,000 years ago. The special soil composition is a key to their world-renowned wines. Verona is to the East, Garda Lake to the West, and the Dolomites to the North.

The Landini family has owned this property since 1963. The Sparici-Landini motivating spirit is their love of the land, its vineyards, and olive groves. The founder of the wine resort was a woman, Maddalena, called “la Grisa”. Their 40 years of success in wine production is a synthesis of rich traditions developed over centuries, wisely measured modernism, and, most importantly, good soil. They harvest the finest selection of grapes for their boutique wines bunch by bunch by hand.

Inspire and expand

You have navigated the wide wild world of yoga this far and have arrived here. Whether your intention is to learn more about yourself or perhaps you are just scrolling through, welcome. This is exactly where you are meant to be. Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness invites you to continue your journey with them and explore all that the Lakshmi Rising kula has to offer. This 300-hour teacher training course is a full spectrum experience in living yoga. This RYT500 upgrade is a 21-day intensive immersion designed to nourish your practice, inspire your teaching, and expand your skill set.

Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness will share unique tools and valuable wisdom for both personal and professional development. Consistently named one of the best yoga teacher trainings around the globe, this next-level certification course draws from many traditions including modern science and emphasizes more than the physical side of yoga. Lakshmi Rising Hatha Vinyasa yoga is an experiential practice accessible to all. Vinyasa is the fluid and purposeful integration of breath and movement. You move the body to still the mind.

Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness sees the practice as a metaphor to understand where you are stuck; physically, mentally, or emotionally. This therapeutic system offers space, technique, and support to recognize and transform habits, patterns, and conditionings that cause suffering for yourselves and others. Their holistic perspective cultivates higher consciousness, interconnection, openness, stability, and strength, on and off of the mat.

The living wisdom of yoga is full of insights that teach you how to observe and better understand yourself so that you can experience the present to the fullest and step into the future with more awareness of what is possible. Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness views yoga as a universal gift to humanity with gratitude and great respect for its roots. In addition to a deep and timeless love for yoga, this is what Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness is all about and the focus of this 300-hour program:

  • Deepening your knowledge base of yoga, science, health, and spirituality through an evidence-based methodology and direct experience to acquire real tools for use in personal practice and sharing what you love
  • Self-development, mental clarity, self-love, confidence, and inner peace. When one cultivates and embodies these qualities one can best participate in making the world a better place.
  • Creating and nurturing community
  • Giving back to those less fortunate and taking care of your sacred planet Mother Earth
  • Enjoyment of the journey and the realization that there is no final destination. Be here now, this is the only time and place where yoga (and life) can happen.

Full spectrum exploration: Evolve, elevate, and empower

This training prioritizes developing lifestyle habits in alignment with the principles of yoga by taking part in a living yoga immersion. Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness holds the space for you to eat, sleep, talk, and breathe yoga for 21 days. The non-compartmentalized approach emphasizes taking the practice into everyday life just as much as you practice the physical art of yoga on the mat. The integrated lifestyle of the Yogi is just as important as physical asana practice.

This is an investment in your vocation and practice, as well as an enjoyable retreat. This next-level yoga teacher training is woven into Lakshmi Rising’s 200-hour foundational training with an expanded schedule, advanced textbooks, higher expectations, and different projects. This provides an opportunity to refresh your foundational understanding while delving deeper into very complex and multi-faceted yogic concepts.

Who is this program for?

This immersion is designed for those who have already taken any type of 200-hour yoga teacher training. Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness have participants who have taken online training (their 200-hour or another 300-hour) and are looking for an in-person experience.

They have students with years of teaching under their belts and those who have never taught. Some of the students in this program have zero experience with Vinyasa and have been trained in other styles of yoga, and some are ready to develop their own yoga teacher training and want a successful and effective model to inspire them. An open mind is the only requirement and will yield the best results.

You will:

  • Acquire innovative teaching tools and confidence
  • Learn new perspectives and refresh your understanding of yoga fundamentals
  • Cultivate health, well-being, and the inspiration to share it in your community
  • Advance your vision and career options; all while making new, like-minded contacts and life-long friends

In this program, Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness will cover foundational concepts of vinyasa yoga while diving deeper into meditation, pranayama, mantra, working with private clients, community outreach, ayurveda, hands-on adjustments, anatomy, yoga sutras, and the refinement of your teaching skills. This enriching certification upgrade is an opportunity to cultivate your own yoga and spiritual practice.

Curriculum

Most of the group lectures and labs will be mixed levels. The 200-hour students will be right alongside you, but they will be hearing much of the information for the first time. You may be hearing it for the first time, too. The interesting thing is, when Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness look at the 200-hour and 300-hour credential, there is no way to know how much experience practicing or teaching someone has, or what they know about yoga.

Yoga is huge and it is a lifetime study, you certainly cannot learn it all in 200, 300, or 500 hours. If you are familiar with some of the topics they cover, this is an opportunity to explore them on a deeper level. For example, no one can say that discussing ahimsa is redundant until you have a peaceful planet. There is always more you can learn, discuss, and share. You will go into more depth than the 200-hour students in the topics of:

  • Hands-on adjustments
  • Working one-on-one with private clients
  • Anatomy
  • Ayurveda
  • Meditation
  • Pranayama
  • Chanting and mantra
  • Teaching

Projects that are a part of this curriculum include

Prepare and teach a 60-minute private yoga session to another 300-hour student. You will also receive a private lesson from a peer and be asked to give them feedback. Choose a topic from a list of suggestions to learn more about. Give a 15-minute presentation on this topic to the cohort and then build this out into a 30-minute asana class as a final project. This presentation and class can be used in the future as a longer class or workshop. Come up with a community outreach project and design the steps to bring it to life.

  • You will be challenged to teach outside of your comfort zone
  • You will be encouraged to try new things and make mistakes
  • You will be supported throughout the learning process

Movement as meditation

Approach to asana

The asana practice is a specific method of therapeutic Vinyasa yoga developed by Dr. Liz Lindh over 25 years of informed practice. The Lakshmi Rising technique has intentional sequencing principles to guide the body and mind through safe and challenging movements into a gentle catharsis. This relationship with yoga asana is not a performance art, nor a competitive sport. Lakshmi Rising is an internal experience to promote optimal well-being. It is not a traditional approach to yoga, but it is directly influenced by the classical yoga of Krishnamacharya passed down by his son and students.

There are also elements of traditional Chinese medicine meridian theory, acupressure, Restorative and Yin principles, Pilates-inspired core work, fluid Tai Chi-type movements, and ecstatic dance infused into the method. You will learn Lakshmi Rising sequencing and how to thoughtfully put a vinyasa, restorative vinyasa, or power class together following the LR map. Each morning your daily routine includes a 90-minute asana practice specifically created for the yoga teacher training container.

There is a tremendous intention behind the approach, and everything that is part of the practice is there for a specific reason. Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness emphasizes injury prevention and adapting the practice to the person. They place importance on the circulation of prana and the development of sensitivities to feel the vital essence enlivening and revitalizing body, mind, and spirit. The daily asana lab module is an experimental and experiential classroom where poses and kramas (short sequences) are learned and practiced.

The specific anatomy and energetics of the poses, as well as benefits and contraindications, are covered together with practice in teaching. This is also a place to engage with hands-on adjusting. The 300-hour students will be in a mentorship role among 200-hour students to support their correct understanding and embodiment of each asana. The complexity of asana practiced and taught will depend upon the fitness level of the group as a collective. This training does not emphasize perfecting the handstand, although Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness understands how much fun that can be.

Grow with Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness

It is all about the journey. This 300-hour yoga teacher training experience is a synthesis of numerous years teaching studio classes and private sessions, as well as attending many 200 and 300-hour yoga programs and workshops, and more than 25 years of personal practice and study; together with over a decade of leading yoga teacher training certification courses.

Course overview

1. What is Lakshmi Rising? (three total hours)

Learning objective: during the opening circle, you will discuss the course overview, introduce the power of intention and ritual, share collective introductions among the kula (community), and explain the Lakshmi Rising concept. You also go over the course requirements.

2. What is yoga? (two total hours)

Learning objective: Students collectively define yoga. A brief cultural history of yoga and classical definitions of yoga are discussed. Concepts like Samkhya philosophy and the Vedic tradition of India are introduced.

3. Daily morning asana sadhana (30 total hours)

Learning objective: These 90-minute daily modules include asana, pranayama, mantra, kriya, and mudra. They are designed to stretch, tone, and heal the body. Lakshmi Rising specialty yoga master classes not only move the body but also stir the heart and mind. They weave classical yogic concepts with modern anatomical intelligence, inspiration for self-observation, and spiritual wisdom.

4. Meditation practicum (26 total hours)

Learning objective: Students actively practice loving kindness, japa, trataka, japa mala, mindfulness, sound healing, yoga nidra, mantra, and nyasm styles of meditation twice daily to directly experience the benefits and challenges. Students will note the effects of a consistent daily meditation practice for 21 days in a row.

5. Sequencing concepts and techniques (18 total hours)

Learning objective: In this 90-minute daily module following the morning sadhana, the instructor explains the preceding practice. Morning yoga classes are based on the Lakshmi Rising Hatha Vinyasa method of building a sequence around a cohesive theme and variations on that theme - physically, and often mentally, emotionally, and spiritually as well. In each of these break-down sessions, an asana (the peak pose of the day) is explained in detail including benefits and effects, modifications and variations, anatomical alignment details, and contraindications.

The entire class is collectively discussed and written down. This provides students with a library of intentional, versatile sequences to reference for inspiration when putting together their own classes. This session also serves as a Q&A about any part of the morning practice. Students gain experiential perspectives on designing and teaching a yoga class and clarification about the class elements.

6. Structure of a Vinyasa class (three total hours)

Learning objective: Basic and advanced concepts specific to Hatha Vinyasa yoga in the lineage of Sri Krishnamacharya are defined, as well as elements unique to Lakshmi Rising. This gives students a map to follow regarding what to include in Vinyasa-style classes, and why. Concepts such as Surya namaskar (sun salutations), Vinyasa krama (flows), kriya (repetitive movements), and connecting Vinyasa (linking sequences) are explored.

7. The art of intelligent sequencing (five total hours)

Learning objective: Students will gain a solid understanding of how to sequence a Vinyasa class using the Lakshmi Rising method. Concepts such as theme and variation in asana, peak pose, Vinyasa krama, connecting Vinyasa, music, philosophical themes, and timing are covered. Students work in small groups to design a class and receive feedback.

8. Roots of alignment: Defining asana and intro to yoga anatomy (two and a half total hours)

Learning objective: This module includes Krishmacharya’s and Patanjali’s definitions of asana. Students work together in partners or small groups to perform a postural analysis, and an overview of common alignment mistakes is presented.

9. Anatomy of asana families (three total hours)

Learning objective: Different categories of asana are defined. Regions of the body are identified. Muscles, bones, nerves, organs, and connective tissues are explained in relation to different types of postures and positions. Cautions and contraindications, range of motion, and general benefits of posture groupings are explained.

10. Asana lab (25 total hours)

Learning objective: Different asanas are explained and demonstrated. The anatomy of each asana is discussed, as well as variations, modifications, benefits, contraindications and hands-on assists, adjustments, and enhancements. Students work in pairs or small groups to practice teaching asana and mini-sequences.

11. Hands-on adjustments 101 (five total hours)

Learning objective: Ethical, energetic, and anatomical aspects of touching yoga students are discussed. Options for student and teacher safety are explored. Similarities and differences between adjusting, assisting, and enhancing asana are considered. Contraindications are explained. Verbal and energetic assists are also explained.

12. How to offer a private session (five total hours)

Learning objective: To refine one's offerings as a teacher by providing effective and authentic one-on-one sessions.

13. Community outreach project: Karma yoga (two hours)

Learning objective: To fine-tune your craft and to give back through the vehicle of yoga.

14. Art of shape-shifting (two total hours)

Learning objective: For this photography project, students are given a list of asanas that are a part of the Lakshmi Rising curriculum. With a partner or small group, students photographically document their understanding of these poses on the first and last days of the training program. This illustrates their growth and transformation during the yoga teacher certification course and their understanding of the physical and energetic alignment of each asana.

15. Secrets of the Bandhas (two total hours)

Learning objective: Students receive theoretical and experiential information about hasta, pada, mula, uddiyana, jalandhara, and maha bandhas. Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness will discuss benefits, contraindications, and physical and energetic anatomy and explore several different techniques for teaching and self-practice.

16. Yoga in the world today: The legacy of Krishnamacharya (one total hour)

Learning objective: Students discuss the similarities and differences between yoga and exercise. The global influence of Krishnamacharya and his students is discussed, as well as other popular styles of yoga.

17. Patanjali and the eight limbs of yoga (one total hour)

Learning objective: This is an introduction to yoga as a philosophy and lifestyle that encompasses more than just physical postures.

18. Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (10 total hours)

300-hour students will have the opportunity to guide a group discussion about Patanjali’s yamas and niyamas.

19. Concepts in Ahimsa: Plant-based nutrition for the health of the whole (38 total hours)

Learning objective: Students will explore one of Patanjali’s eight limbs of yoga, yama. The first of these ethical observances is ahimsa, non-harming of self and others. Lakshmi Rising School for Yoga and Wellness applies this principle to the yogic lifestyle by adhering to a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet for 21 days. The mealtimes are not only an opportunity to practice mindful eating but also a time to educate students about plant-based nutrition. Students gain first-hand experience with the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle in harmony with Ayurvedic principles.

20. Pranayama defined: May the force be with you (two total hours)

Learning objective: Pranayama as one of Patanjali’s eight limbs is defined and discussed. The anatomy of the respiratory system is explained. 22. Meditation techniques explained (eight total hours)

Learning objective: Nyasm, lovingkindness, japa, japa mala, mindfulness, sound healing, yoga Nidra, mantra, and trataka are explained in depth so that each student has clear instructions on how to practice each of these techniques. Benefits of, variations on, and contraindications for each are also discussed.
