Accommodation
Xenia Center offers a thoughtful combination of practice spaces, sacred areas, comfortable accommodations, and nourishing communal spaces designed to support deep learning, rest, and connection. Everything on the land has been created with intention, and you can genuinely feel it as you move through your days here.
Practice facilities
- The gathering space (yoga shala): A bright, spacious 1000-square-foot studio where you will spend most of your time together. This is your home base for practice, workshops, and classroom time.
- The eagle’s nest: An outdoor deck overlooking the mountains. Eagle’s nest is where morning meditation, chanting, and pranayama will take place. Morning meditation aligns perfectly with the sunrise to take in the first morning rays of sunlight each day.
- The meadow: A beautiful open space surrounded by trees and the garden, where you will occasionally take your practice and learning outdoors. It is quiet, peaceful, and a refreshing way to be with the teachings in the beautiful nature that surrounds you.
Sacred spaces
- The labyrinth: A 11-circuit walking labyrinth used for reflection, clarity, and gentle movement meditation. Many students use this space to process, integrate, or simply breathe.
- The sanctuary: A cozy, quiet space on the property where you can journal, study, meditate, or take a moment to settle. It is a supportive place to retreat between sessions.
- Opa and Oma: Opa (a 1,000-year-old Douglas Fir known as the Grandfather Tree) and Oma (grandmother maple tree just outside the yoga shala) hold a grounded, supportive energy and often become part of students’ personal rituals during the training
- Nature spots, garden areas, and walking trails: Xenia is filled with tucked-away places to sit, study, or rest. You will also have access to multiple forest trails throughout the property - perfect for quiet time, integration walks, or getting some fresh air during breaks.
- Infrared sauna: A peaceful space to unwind and support your body at the end of the day.
Cozy and comfortable accommodations
Rooms and cabins at Xenia are simple, clean, and designed to help you rest. You can choose private or shared accommodation depending on your preference. There are only a handful of private spaces, so if you feel that is best for your experience, they encourage you to secure your booking soon as they will fill fast.
Communal spaces
- Indoor and outdoor dining areas: You gather for meals in beautiful spaces that feel warm and communal. Outdoor dining spaces offer fresh air and a calm environment to connect or take in the scenery of the land.
- A kitchen filled with care: Meals are prepared with intention, nourishment, and love by the incredible team - supporting your energy throughout the training while giving you a sense of being truly taken care of.
- Shared lounges and gathering areas: Casual, welcoming spaces throughout the property for connection, conversation, or unwinding between sessions.

Prerequisites
This training is open to all levels. Lokaya Wellness recommends at least six to 12 months of consistent yoga practice, though this does not need to be daily or advanced. More important than physical ability or experience is curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn.
About the training
A life-changing learning experience in one of Canada's most beautiful destinations. Let the sacred lands of Bowen Island hold you as you deepen your practice and awaken your inner wisdom. Learning in nature invites a different quality of presence. Away from the noise and pace of everyday life, where the teachings are received more fully. The training is designed as lived experiences of yoga where study and practice are supported by ceremony, rhythm, rest, nourishment, and meaningful time together in community. You value depth over speed, embodiment over performance, and integration over accumulation of information.
This training is rooted in Vinyasa and Yin yoga, with expanded study in pranayama, meditation, and yogic philosophy. You will learn how to skillfully guide intelligent, breath-led sequences while honouring the roots and depth of the tradition. They approach teaching through a trauma-aware lens, emphasizing choice, agency, nervous system awareness, and embodied presence. Breath, language, pacing, and space holding are taught with great care. You will develop a balanced personal practice and teaching style through exploration of both active and restorative practices and learn from a team of highly experienced, passionate teachers with a wide range of knowledge and teaching backgrounds.
There are silent mornings until breakfast to maintain an inward connection. You are free to explore the beautiful land and walking trails during self-study hours or on days off. Speciality workshops elevate your learning, personal development, and healing journey (Tantra, yoga Nidra, ecstatic dance, ceremony, breathwork, and more). There will be one initial Zoom call one week before the training for you to ask any questions they may have and one post-training Zoom call to check in on the integration process and follow up support from your lead teachers. This training program is a truly comprehensive curriculum. Lokaya Yoga School prides itself on a truly in-depth learning experience that provides students with many specialized workshops to expand their knowledge and deepen their own personal healing.

If you feel called to teach, you will also leave feeling confident and empowered to step into that role.
