During this yoga teacher training, you will be staying at a yoga ashram in Mysore, the main location of Samyak yoga. The yoga shala at Samyak Yoga Ashram is structured in a way that it can accommodate around 40 students at a time. It allows students to practice with a feeling of vastness.
The rooms are vast and built with South Indian bricks, which keep the temperature calm and comfortable for yoga practice and relaxation, with hot water available.
There are no systems or devices available at the ashram for the use of the students, and hence, if you need to browse online, they recommend bringing systems such as laptops, phones, or tablets along. However, the Internet facility is not allowed at the yoga shala as it distracts one's focus from the process of learning.
Please note that the yoga ashram is a place wherein the practice, teaching, and discussions related to yoga take place. It is not a religious place. Samyak Yoga's ashram is specifically established for the yoga teacher training programs, and the entire team is completely committed to it.
You cannot stay for as long as you want to at Samyak Yoga's ashram, as it is a yoga destination wherein yoga teacher training courses are taught most often every month.
Ashram life
This residential intensive training expects you to be completely dedicated to the practice and philosophy of yoga. Samyak Yoga is located on the outskirts of Mysore, away from the city noise and completely dedicated to the yogic life. Keeping the modern application of yoga in mind, they strive to bring you the traditional wisdom of yoga as it is during the courses.
Accommodations at Samyak Yoga Ashram are built with the requirements of yoga teacher training students' needs in mind. There are 20 well-equipped accommodations. All these rooms are supported with attached washrooms and Western closets. They also have a 24/7 hot water facility and are Wi-Fi-enabled.
All rooms have attached balconies with a serene view of the sugarcane fields and palm trees, with parrots, peacocks, and monkeys around.
Private accommodation
There are 12 private (single) accommodations available for yoga teacher training students. These are situated on the first floor of Yoga Dhama, the main building of Samyak Yoga Ashram.
Twin-sharing accommodation
There are six twin-sharing accommodations available for 12 students. These are situated on the ground floor of Yoga Dhama, the main building of Samyak Yoga Ashram.
All rooms include:

- Laundry services - In-house laundry services available at an extra cost
- Hot water - 24/7 hot water shower facility in all rooms

There are no mosquito nets in the accommodations. You can use mosquito repellants such as Odomos, if necessary. However, you don’t need to expect more mosquitoes as the place is highly hygiene-influenced.
The accommodations are also spacious enough that you can practice and prepare for your classes inside the room.
Program
Certification
Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance (YA) as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
All of Samyak Yoga's courses are accredited by the YA. They are one of the oldest yoga schools to get accreditation from them. With a 9.2 NPS rating and a 4.85 rating on YA, the school is also one of the best-rated yoga institutions in India.
This Hatha yoga teacher training is YA-certified 200-hour yoga teacher training. The course structure follows standards set by YA. To complete the course, you will have to pass the examination. After successfully completing the training, you will be a 'Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).'
If your knowledge is inadequate to become a yoga teacher, you might not receive the certification. You might also not receive the certification if you miss more than three sessions (not three days) during the training. In this case, you will get the participation certificate, not the teacher training certificate. You will have time to rework and complete the assignments to receive the 'yoga teacher certification.'
200-hour yoga teacher training in traditional Hatha yoga practice and philosophy
This will be a residential 200-hour yoga teacher training in traditional Hatha yoga. It will not be a retreat, but an intensive yoga teacher training.
Purvabhyasa on Samyak Kulam: Pre and post-yoga teacher training support
A yoga teacher training is not a retreat, but an intense, professional training that needs preparation beforehand. But then, how can you prepare before this training begins?
Once the preparation fee is paid, you will get access to Samyak Kulam. This will allow you to access 'To Purvabhyasa - Preparation for Yoga Teacher Training.' This includes videos, audio files, PDF charts, tips for packing for the training, etc. This 'Purvabhyasa' is accessible once the registration fee (preparation fee) is paid.
Even after the training, you will have access to frequent online practice classes and weekly philosophy classes. Ask and get motivated with the Samyak community of over 3,000 yoga practitioners across the world.
Get access to 'Purvabhyasa' to prepare for training
Once the preparation fee is paid, you will get a confirmation email with all the necessary details of the training. You will access 'Purvabhyasa' on the Samyak Kulam app. Start practicing and preparing before the training begins.
Graduates of Samyak Yoga teacher training courses
You can meet the recent graduates of their yoga teacher training courses, from India and outside India as well. This institute was established not only for Europeans. You will be treated as a student, not a customer / traveler, but only a seeker. This ashram is a place for seekers of yoga who are looking for genuine, authentic yoga practice and philosophy.
When should you register for the training?
Samyak Yoga strongly encourages you to register at least five to six months before the 200-hour Hatha yoga teacher training begins. This is not a course that you can simply book and attend. The Hatha yoga teacher training at Samyak is a disciplined, residential immersion that requires steady effort, physical preparedness, and a sincere willingness to study and reflect.
Registering early will give you time to prepare in the right way. After registration, you will receive access to Samyak Kulam, where you can begin guided preparatory practice and foundational study.
Samyak Yoga also recommends committing to at least one hour of practice, five to six days a week, for a few months before the course starts. The goal is not to become more flexible or “advanced,” but to build strength, endurance, and consistency. Students who prepare in advance arrive more stable, adapt more smoothly, and are able to go deeper into the training. Your preparation begins the moment you register.
What will you gain in yoga teacher training?
- Traditional Hatha yoga - You will be studying over 100 asanas (including 84 classical Hatha yoga asanas)

Who is eligible for Hatha yoga teacher training?
At Samyak Yoga, the Hatha yoga teacher training is designed for all sincere seekers of yoga - whether you are relatively new to the practice or have been walking this path for years.
For newer practitioners
If you’ve recently discovered yoga and are truly drawn to explore it more deeply, then this training is a beautiful doorway. You do not need to have mastered advanced postures. What matters most is your dedication, openness to learn, and willingness to go beyond the surface.
The training will provide you with a structured, immersive foundation in traditional Hatha yoga, helping you to build your practice in the most authentic way - grounded in both technique and philosophy.
For experienced practitioners
If you’ve been practicing yoga for two to four years or more and are ready to refine your practice, understand the “why” behind the “what,” and perhaps start sharing yoga with others, this training will challenge and expand your journey. You’ll go deeper into asana alignment, breathwork, philosophy, teaching methodology, and more - all guided by a team of experienced teachers within a traditional ashram setting.
Intensive training in yoga, not a yoga retreat
This will be an immersive experience rooted in tradition - with early mornings, consistent practice, and deep study. Therefore, do not join any Zoom meeting while you are studying there. Do not consider this a yoga vacation. The training will be intense, not in pressure, but in authenticity. It’ll be a true spiritual journey that offers insights, intense traditional practice, and a renewed understanding of yoga in its most authentic form.
The course syllabus
Traditional Hatha yoga practice
The early morning practice will bring you the traditional style of Hatha yoga. This practice will be built slowly from the first week to the last week. The intensity will get deeper from intermediate to advanced levels of practice.
You will discover subtle alignments of every asana with its variations, techniques, and tips to practice, which will be explored daily in the asana clinic. As a skilled Hatha yoga teacher, you should know the safe practices, as well as the different levels of teaching the same asanas.
Exploring, practicing, and getting experience in the art of hands-on adjustments is also essential. These hands-on adjustments can enhance your understanding of asanas and the teaching of Hatha yoga.
You will also be working on building your self-practice, as this is one of the aspects that yoga teachers lack. You will work on the building and taste the personal practice of Hatha yoga, the foundation of a Hatha yoga teacher.
Build your self-practice
Practicing and teaching go hand in hand. The more you practice, the better your teaching will be. As you evolve as a Hatha yoga teacher, building your personal practice gets harder.
During Hatha yoga teacher training, Samyak Yoga will focus on building your self-practice of Hatha yoga. It will involve how to prepare for self-practices and how to find progress in your personal journey of Hatha yoga practice.
The making of a Hatha yoga teacher
It is not sufficient if you practice Traditional Hatha yoga well. It is also not sufficient if you know the philosophy of yoga or even how to teach the asanas. If you know how to create your own Hatha yoga class sequences, only then will you be a refined Hatha yoga teacher.
Samyak Yoga will discuss the do's and and don’ts of creating Hatha yoga class sequences, work on the timing of them, find the modifications if required, and so on. This is one of the essentials for you on the path to becoming a yoga teacher.
The art of hands-on adjustments
This is an important aspect of exploring the skeleton of asanas. As you assist and adjust someone, you will be able to understand the techniques, different body types, etc. It will enhance your understanding of asanas in a deeper way. Hands-on adjustment is an art. During the training, you will be working on every asana with regards to how to practice, subtle techniques, modifications, the art of hands-on adjustments, etc.
Yoga anatomy
A skilled yoga teacher will know how the human body moves and what the impact of the movement would be. If yoga is a balance between movement and stability, understanding the human system is the foundation for it.
You may not need to know the name of every muscle, but the concepts, systems, and methodology of the practice will be a must. Yoga anatomy sessions focus on the safe, proper practice of asana and pranayama with a fundamental understanding of yoga anatomy.
Teach to learn: Method of being a lifelong student
You will become a better Hatha yoga teacher when you keep the student within yourself alive and afresh. You will become a better student when you teach. During the training, you will be teaching every day from Day 2 under the guidance of the lead teacher.
As you teach, you will have more questions. The more you find questions, the firmer your knowledge of yoga practice gets. This is the foundation of finding the yoga teacher within.
Learn and teach pranayama, meditation
Pranayamas are always the underrated, most needed part of the practice. Most often, one does not know how to practice them, or they may not have built the taste of regular practice.
During the training, you will strive to inculcate the regular practice of pranayama so that it will become a part of your daily routine. You will also be required to teach pranayama. The more you teach, the better your practice will be. It will allow you to become a more equipped Hatha yoga teacher.
Ayurveda for yoga teachers
Ayurveda will be an important subject for you as a yoga practitioner. Starting from understanding body types (doshas, i.e., vata, pitta, and kapha) to the kinds of food that you might want to avoid, Ayurveda has a lot to offer for the yoga practice journey.
A proper understanding (of course, it will just be an introduction in the teacher training) of Ayurveda will enhance your knowledge of students, their body types, and how to get better in your yoga journey. Dr. Meghana Narayana (an Ayurveda doctor, M.D. in Ayurveda Samhita) will guide you in the Ayurveda sessions during this training.
Yoga philosophy: Yoga darshana studies
Yoga philosophy is very fascinating. But when presented / taught badly, it seems boring. During the training, Samyak Yoga will discuss yoga philosophy not as information, but how it can be implemented in daily life. It is very transformative to dig into the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, chakras, nadis, koshas, etc.
Yoga kriyas: Yogic cleansing techniques
Practicing jala neti and trataka are significant, as they enhance one's ability to purify respiration and enhance the focus of the mind, respectively. These are the two major tools that Samyak Yoga requires on the path of yoga.
Pranayamas / kumbhakas
Yoga is a lot more beyond asanas. Often, pranayamas are the most neglected, but are also the most significant dimension of a yoga journey. You will be practicing traditional pranayamas / kumbhakas every day and will be refining your skills of teaching pranayamas.
Dharana and dhyana: Traditional meditation techniques
Your asana practice is a proper foundation to build the state of meditation within. For a yoga practitioner, it is one of the most significant aspects to cultivate the habit of meditating properly every day.
Who can apply?
If you are interested in deepening the practice and possibly planning to take this passion for teaching Hatha yoga as your profession, then this course is for you. Even if you are not interested in teaching Hatha yoga as a profession, the training can still be a good idea as it offers a complete immersion into the practice and teaching of Hatha yoga.
Your teachers in training
At Samyak Yoga, the teaching team is a blend of tradition and modern clarity. Each teacher has lived the yogic path through years of study in gurukulas and daily practice, bringing depth, precision, and heart into every class. Together, they offer not just techniques, but the spirit of yoga - rooted in wisdom, refined by experience, and shared with joy.

Food
The making of a yoga family: Eat together, happy, and joyful
Eating together is one of the best ways to connect with others. During mealtime, participants connect, laugh, share stories, and often practice silent meals too.
The ingredients
The quality of the fruits, nuts, and vegetables that Samyak Yoga uses has an impact. One should be well aware of the source of the food. Hence, at Samyak Yoga Ashram, they bring food directly from the local farmers. They literally worship farming.
The concept behind
The food will be prepared based on the type of yoga practice involved. All of the three qualities of Ayurveda, i.e., vata, pitta, and kapha, should be there in proportion. The food menu will be created in such a way that it is delicious and nourishes all dimensions of the system.
The preparation
The process of making the food is a significant part, too. While preparing, Samyak Yoga's chef, Mr. Jitendra Singh, should also be happy and joyful. The mind involved in the preparation of the food influences the outcome.
The consumption
The way of eating the food is also significant. At Samyak Yoga Ashram, they all sit together as a family and enjoy the food. When shared with others, the heart opens and helps in bringing energy and light within.
Know more about food
The yogic Indian food served during the yoga teacher training will be suitable for the yoga practice of students and will also help in detoxifying the body for yogic practices.
Besides nutritional value, Samyak Yoga also loves to give a glimpse of the local food taste of Mysore. They don’t offer meat, fish, and eggs, which are considered stimulating / lethargic for yogic practices. The yogic food is also seasoned with mild spices, which are part of the Ayurvedic diet.
All food will be prepared with filtered water in the clean and spacious kitchen, where Samyak Yoga gives utmost importance to the hygiene of all the food items and cooks.
Students with a preference for vegan and gluten-free diets can comfortably manage there. You will have brown bread, muesli, and cornflakes with fruits for breakfast, while lunch and dinner will include salads, vegetables, lentils, beans, and rice, as well as wheat items, soups, and desserts, on occasion.
Samyak Yoga designed the menu to calm your body-mind down while you are undergoing detoxification during the intensive practice / course, which generates a lot more heat in the body and mind, and is beneficial to the intense yoga practice. All foods will be served buffet-style, and you can take as much as you want to.
Be advised
Food will be prepared based on Ayurvedic concepts, such as vata, pitta, and kapha doshas, and will be strictly vegetarian. However, students can opt for vegan or gluten-free food. The chef at Samyak Yoga can also make some changes to the food in case of any specific allergies.
