Program

Certifications

The course / hours count as Continuing Education hours for Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®) only.

Over the course of this immersive experience, you’ll explore how to design purposeful and impactful sequences that are both anatomically intelligent and energetically aligned. You’ll dive into the principles of functional movement, theming, rhythm, and progression, all while honoring the roots and philosophy of yoga.

In addition, you'll refine your skills in hands-on adjustments, learning safe, sensitive, and effective techniques that foster deeper connection, trust, and embodiment for your students.

This training blends daily practice, in-depth workshops, partner work, and personal exploration - set against the backdrop of Andalusia’s tranquil landscapes, where the pace slows, the sun shines, and inspiration flows freely. You'll be in a serene learning environment to support deep focus and transformation.

Whether you're looking to expand your teaching toolkit or reconnect with your personal practice, this 50-hour advanced journey offers a supportive and inspiring space to grow, create, transform, explore, and evolve your craft.

What you’ll learn:

  • Core principles of functional movement applied to intelligent sequencing
  • Techniques for creative class design: rhythm, flow, progression, and theming
  • Safe, effective, and respectful hands-on adjustments for diverse bodies
  • Daily practice, in-depth workshops, partner work, and self-inquiry

Sharpen your teaching tools:

You’ll refine your ability to connect with students through clear verbal cues and intuitive physical guidance - always grounded in consent, safety, and somatic awareness.

What is biomechanics in yoga?

Biomechanics, when applied to yoga, is the study of how the body moves - based on physics, anatomy, and movement science. Instead of relying on generic alignment cues or traditional shapes, biomechanics looks at how and why each person moves differently, and how yoga poses can be adapted to support individual structure, mobility, and function.

In yoga, biomechanics helps teachers and students:

  • Understand the mechanical forces acting on joints and muscles during movement and stillness.
  • Learn how posture, tension, and load affect stability, strength, and range of motion.
  • Prevent injuries by applying science-based strategies rather than one-size-fits-all alignment rules.
  • Guide students more effectively, especially those with physical limitations, chronic pain, or imbalances.

By incorporating biomechanical principles into your teaching, you’ll gain the tools to create safer, smarter, and more accessible classes. You'll also develop a deeper respect for the body's natural diversity - helping your students move more freely and functionally, both on and off the mat.

Requirements:

You will need to have previously completed a 200-hour, or 500-hour yoga teacher training.

If you are a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher (RYT):

Yoga Alliance requires that all RYTs and E-RYTs must complete 75 hours of CE within three years from the date of their initial registration. This total number of hours must include:

  • 45 hours teaching yoga, and
  • 30 hours of yoga-related training that is directly related to one of their educational categories, of which at least 10 training hours must be contact hours and no more than 20 training hours may be non-contact hours

Completing this training is a great opportunity to accomplish most of the YA premises in order to keep your certification and registry with Yoga Alliance. But, you are also welcome to join Sun Salute Retreats if you only wish to deepen your own knowledge.
