Why beach and outdoor yoga training

After years of teaching at Tybee Wellness Retreats, Laurie noticed that many retreat participants who were 200-hour yoga teachers had never practiced on the sand or even outdoors at all. Teaching beach and outdoor yoga presents unique challenges, and this certification covers all outdoor yoga teaching environments, including beach, parks, and mobile and pop-up classes. You will learn how to navigate uneven and shifting terrain, adapt to wind, sun, heat, and weather conditions, improve voice projection and class safety, refine sequencing and cueing for unstable surfaces, and support student accessibility and injury prevention.

Who this retreat is for

This retreat is designed for yoga teachers seeking Yoga Alliance continuing education credits, teachers who want to confidently teach on the beach or outdoors, retreat leaders and wellness professionals, returning Tybee Wellness Retreats guests, and yoga practitioners curious about the healing power of beach yoga.

Certification and credits

Participants can earn 15 Yoga Alliance continuing education credits, covering half of the 30 CE hours required to remain in good standing. You do not need to be a yoga teacher to join. This training is ideal for those who want to expand their skills, gain confidence teaching outdoors, and deepen their practice.

Sample retreat schedule
