How the training works
The Beyond Asana Yoga teacher training begins with a forty-hour online foundation from October 31 through November 5, delivered live via Zoom, covering essential knowledge such as history, philosophy, and key course elements; this online portion, which makes up approximately thirteen percent of the total three-hundred-hour training, must be completed prior to the immersive residential retreat in Puerto Rico from November 6 through 29, where you will dive into anatomy, asana, sequencing, and the business of yoga in a nature-rich lakeside setting.

The online portion of the training will be conducted live via Zoom, and all supplemental materials, schedules, and recordings will be shared through Google Drive to support your learning and keep everything organized and accessible.

Course information, Curriculum
Beyond Asana Yoga will begin the training with an online introduction before you arrive in Puerto Rico. This portion will run from October 31 through November 5 and will ensure that you are prepared for the immersive experience. Students should arrive anytime on November 6.
This 300-hour course, certified by Yoga Alliance, will begin with an introduction to the course and basic yoga knowledge, which will be conducted via Zoom from October 31 to November 5. This week will be dedicated to providing you with the essential foundational information needed to absorb everything required by the course and to discuss the history, philosophy, and key elements for a complete training. The online portion will take place on Zoom from 09:00 to 17:00 on Saturday, and Monday to Friday from 17:30 to 21:00.
The in-person portion will be from November 6 through 29, during which you will be in your retreat space on the lake surrounded by nature in Puerto Rico. During your time together, you will cover anatomy, asana (progressions, regressions, alignment, anatomical action, and adjustments), sequencing, ethics, the business of yoga, and more.
During the retreat, you will begin each day from 08:00 to 18:00. At 08:00, you will have a yoga class, pranayama, and meditation. Then you’ll have breakfast, followed by two lessons before lunch and two lessons after lunch. Dinner will be at 19:15. During your Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) at B.A.Y. Lifestyle - Beyond Asana Yoga School, you will go beyond physical postures, being guided to embody the yoga lifestyle, deepen self-awareness, and teach with confidence.
Instructors
Johanna Godinez
Founder of Beyond Asana Yoga Lifestyle. She stepped on the mat for the first time more than 15 years ago when she found herself at a crossroads in which yoga illuminated the path. Her purpose is to share the ancient knowledge and philosophy that has been around for thousands of years as a way to ignite others' self-exploration and enlightenment in this beautiful experience of life. As a teacher, her passion is sharing not only the knowledge of yoga but also the path to living yoga beyond the mat.
Nicole Quiñones
Born in Fajardo Puerto Rico and grew up in Michigan. In July of 2022 Nicole moved back to Puerto Rico to rediscover her roots and become a yoga instructor. In August of 2022 she graduated from B.A.Y Lifestyle 200hr certified yoga teacher training and began her teaching journey. Now Nicole is a full time yoga instructor at Wyndham Palmas Hotel.
