This program is 100 percent self-paced, and the training schedule includes:

Course information
The entire course will be taught virtually via pre-recorded practice and lecture videos and live stream one-on-one sessions through Zoom. Every day, you will have pre-recorded videos to follow along with to guide you in your meditation and asana practices. You can follow along with pre-recorded lectures and discussions in your own time and at your own pace to fully absorb the material in the time frame best suited for your schedule. The entire course is self-paced, so you can move as quickly or as slowly as you'd like. All classes are recorded and available for you to view at any time. You can access the classes from any digital device. All training sessions include asana lab breakdowns, anatomy, history, philosophy, and teaching methodology classes. You will also spend time sequencing and practicing teaching Restorative yoga to grow and gain confidence as a Restorative yoga teacher.
Syllabus
Throughout the duration of the course, you will extensively study:
Asana (postures)
Through intensive practice and study, you will explore refinement and precision within your personal practice as well as how to share that detailed approach with your students.
Meditation
Through daily practice of both guided and silent meditations and discussion of various techniques, you will delve deep into the practice, how it relates to the yogic lifestyle, and how to incorporate it into your daily lives.
Anatomy and physiology
You’ll briefly explore the fascinating human body and look at how your physical anatomy applies to the Restorative yoga practice and how to modify and adapt your teachings to keep students safe and aware. And through experiential and interactive learning, you’ll have fun as you assess and understand the physiological effects of the Restorative practice on the body, breath, and mind.
Alignment and pose modifications
You will carefully dissect many common poses within the Restorative yoga practice to explore alignment in depth. You will also discuss how to modify and adjust poses for students with injuries, pregnancy, or lack of mobility.
History and philosophy of Restorative yoga
You will explore the birth of Restorative yoga and its evolution and growth throughout the years. You will also discuss the philosophical side of this practice and how it can apply to your everyday life.
Pranayama (breathwork)
Through experiential practice and discussion, you will learn about the practice of controlling and regulating the breath (pranayama). You will discuss the many benefits of this practice and how to effectively practice, teach, and share it.
Mantra (chants)
Through experiential practice and discussion, you will learn about the practice of chanting (mantra). You will discuss the many benefits of this practice and how to effectively practice, teach, and share it.
Sequencing Restorative yoga classes
You will study the art of sequencing Restorative yoga classes and how to effectively and carefully plan and sequence Restorative practices. You will discuss theming, the different elements essential to a well-structured class, linking postures, intelligent sequencing, and beyond so you can walk away feeling confident to teach.
Teaching methodology
Of course, you will study the art of teaching Restorative in its many facets—exploring the ideas of what makes a good yoga teacher, how to skillfully use language, how to effectively sequence practices, how to concisely cue poses, and much, much more—so that you will feel secure and confident as a Restorative teacher. And, of course, you will have the opportunity numerous times to explore these concepts in reality as you put the art of teaching Restorative into practice.
How the training works
All pre-recorded videos will be made available through private links. You can access these videos from any device with internet access. The one-on-one live sessions will be conducted via Zoom, so you will need to have access to Zoom. You can do this via an internet browser (like Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and more) or by downloading the Zoom app on your Mac, PC, Android phone or tablet, iPad, or iPhone. You will also be provided with a detailed and robust digital PDF training manual to follow along with throughout the course. You will have access to the recorded practices and lectures to return to anytime that you feel you need a refresher throughout the training. This training would take a minimum of 10 days to complete with no maximum time period.
Timing of sessions
There will be a private one-on-one session for you to meet with your teacher to discuss your progress, questions, and/or concerns. One-on-ones will be scheduled to fit your time zone and availability throughout the course.
Pre-application requirements
The only prerequisites are a genuine interest in Restorative yoga, coming with an open mind, and being prepared to learn. You do not need to be a certified yoga teacher to join this course. You are more than welcome to join simply if you are interested in learning Restorative yoga. Please note, however, that this training will not qualify you to teach yoga in general; it will only offer you 35 hours of Restorative yoga education.
Completion requirements
Full completion of all course work, homework, and assignments is mandatory in order to successfully graduate from the course. You are required to watch all videos in order to graduate. After you have completed the full course, you will be required to hand in a final teaching project and pass a test in order to receive your certification.

Leah Sugerman is a yoga teacher and writer. An eternally grateful student, she has trained in countless traditions of the practice and teaches a fusion of these styles with a strong emphasis on breath, alignment, and anatomical integrity. Leah is an E-RYT 500 whose classes are grounded in precision and detail. She offers a mix of both challenging and relaxing practices.
