Shanti Yoga Ashram provides guests with an ashram environment in a homestay setting, surrounded by the splendor of nature. This affords a cozy environment conducive to spiritual practice where those who stay at the ashram can get a taste of the authentic yogic lifestyle along with traditional Nepalese culture.
The ashram provides a few private rooms and shared twin rooms, availability is based on current occupancy. Each room is accompanied by shared bathrooms (shower with hot water and Western-style toilets).
Water for bathing is powered by solar. Electrical outages are part of life in Nepal, however, it is easy to adapt since there is solar energy for heating water and gas or fire for cooking. There are lights that are battery-powered, not dependent on the coming and going of electricity.
If you are coming for a specific course or retreat, you are welcome to arrive in the late afternoon before the program begins so that you will be able to start the first day feeling fresh, rested, and ready to begin.
The ashram differs from retreat centers because of its simplicity and focus on the application of the yogic lifestyle as taught by the scriptures and continued from guru to disciple.

Overview
Tantra yoga embodies five different yoga systems, taught by Shiva: Hatha yoga, Astanga yoga, Mantra yoga, Laya yoga, and Shiva-Shakti yoga. Tantra yoga is a way of living, turning yoga into one’s lifestyle. It purifies all different aspects of one’s life, to eventually lead you to the ultimate goal of life; self-realization. Tantra is the art of being free from all physical, mental, and spiritual bondage through the expansion of energy.
It develops handling power to not be dependent on any external situation. In tantra, everything is sadhana. To eat is a sadhana and to not eat is a sadhana, to marry is a sadhana and to not marry is a sadhana. It does not matter what one does, all that matters is one's consciousness and awareness one has in any activity or situation. To live in the world from a liberated state of being.
During the one-year course, one will get initiated into the tantra tradition by the Guru. The aim is to get established in the yogic field, and to continue it for the rest of one's life.

Course overview
During this one-year course, Shanti Yoga Ashram does not just develop new yoga teachers. They transform people into vehicles for higher consciousness, to do their work, and to spread the love, light, and wisdom of classical Tantra yoga. Therefore this course will be on an academic level.
The goal is for one to be established in the wisdom and knowledge of Tantra yoga and verify the teachings by oneself. When one has experienced his true potential and had insight into his own true inner light, this light will radiate like the sun upon the world around, releasing all people from suffering.
Through implementing all classical teachings in one’s lifestyle, Tantra yoga has the ability to bring you back to the place where you remember that the manifested and unmanifested are one. And that within these costumes, there is eternity. And when you say “I” and they say “I”, you are referring to the same one. It creates harmony between the inner and the outer world, in which you are neither too much in and neither too much out.
When one is ready, the new message will arrive. Nowadays the world is ready for this message. Shanti Yoga Ashram believes that to change the world, you should not adapt to the world and its lost way of teaching yoga. One has to be strong to share this wisdom around, in the classical way, knowing he is serving the love and light of the truth. For the one that lives in truth, higher consciousness will always be by his side.
Shanti Yoga Ashram provides a peaceful ashram setting where students can fully absorb themselves in the study of yoga while living a yogic lifestyle. Individually and collectively, they give practical tools needed to advance on the yogic path.
Rationality of the program
- Yoga is a way to counteract the problems and stresses of modern life. It gives a chance for people to develop themselves to their highest potential, rather than falling prey to addictions and other unhealthy vices. Overall it uplifts the entire society.
- Shanti Yoga Ashram is confident that yoga is one of the true paths by which lasting peace, contentment, and joy can be found
- The purity of yoga is being lost or confused. In order to have its full potency, it must be passed on in its classical form as it has been done for generations
Academic program mission
Yoga is an ancient science developed by esteemed sages and rishis for the liberation of human consciousness. Traditionally, the deeper aspects of this science have been taught only in a non-academic manner. The mission is to teach this divine science in an academic setting and in a systematic manner while upholding its highest spiritual purpose - to fully awaken human potential for the transformation of the self and the upliftment of society.
Objective
To preserve this great yogic science for future generations and to spread the light of yoga all over the world, contributing to world peace and harmony among all.
Goal
To provide the highest level of yogic education that can be applied universally to all people. Shanti Yoga Ashram intends to give yogic wisdom in its pure form with all its depth so that the students will be able to master this science.
