Program
About the course
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that have been used for centuries to promote physical and emotional well-being. They can be used in a variety of ways, including aromatherapy, topical application, and certain oils for ingestion. Some smell (and tastes) can create more positive emotions than others, depending on individual experiences and chemistry.
This is why a deeper understanding of how essential oils work and their use in a synergistic practice such as Yin Yoga is so vital.
The Yin and essential oil specialist for this module is Annelise Piers. She’s been steeped in yoga and essential oils since 2016 and specialized with Alexandra Denkinger M.D(Acu) in Yin Yoga Therapy™. She is serious about spreading and sharing the vision of deeper self-healing.
In this AromaYin course, Annelise brings together the fundamentals of Yin yoga, the ancient Taoist healing wisdom of acupoints, meridians, and chi flow, and the physical and energetic value of essential oils.
Learn about the Yin long-held stretches in stillness and how they target the connective tissues of the body, such as the ligaments, tendons, joints, and fascia. Get insight into how the Yin yoga practice helps strengthen those ‘yin’ tissues and also to improve flexibility, release tension, and calm the mind.
But most of all get insight into how to work with the Daoist Elements, Meridians, and flow of Chi not only in the Yin yoga practice but also how to deepen this experience with essential oils. This quintessential plant medicine is the very essence of the plant, stimulating our body’s innate intelligence to balance and heal itself.
You will learn to blend and use oils safely to enhance the movement of energy – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual – through application along the meridians and at suitable acupoints.
In addition to their therapeutic benefits, essential oils can also be used to create a multi-sensory experience during a Yin yoga practice. Just like you learn to play our physical and emotional edges in long-held poses in yin, one learns to appreciate aromatic edges, taking this valuable insight into your teaching practice.
Combining essential oil therapy with Yin yoga can be a powerful and transformative experience on all levels - body, mind, and soul.
Essential oils
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that have been used for centuries to promote physical and emotional well-being. This quintessential plant medicine is the very essence of the plant, stimulating our body’s innate powers to balance and heal itself.
Yin yoga
Yin yoga focuses on long-held stretches and stillness. It targets the connective tissues of the body, helps to rejuvenate, to improve flexibility, maintain mobility, release tension, and calm the mind. But most of all in Yin yoga, you transform a yoga class into a healing space as work with the Meridians and the flow of Chi in the body.
AromaYin
Learn to choose and apply selected oils to support a specific intention in your Yin yoga practice. You will learn to blend and use oils safely to enhance the movement of energy – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual – through application along the meridians and at acupoints.
Multi-sensory experiences
In addition to their therapeutic benefits, essential oils can also be used to create a multi-sensory experience during a yoga practice or in life. For example, lavender essential oil is known for its calming and relaxing properties, making it an excellent choice for a yin yoga practice focused on relaxation and stress relief. Peppermint essential oil is invigorating and can help to awaken the senses and increase focus.
And just like you learn to play your physical and emotional edges in long-held poses in Yin yoga, one learns to appreciate aromatic edges, taking this valuable insight into the healing powers of oils into your practice, teaching, and your life.

Instructors
Manuela Simone Sauter
Manuela left Germany to be a full-time pilgrim and travelling yogini. She shares with you her ongoing experience of being deeply immersed in a Buddhist way of life as a meditation guide at the Tushita Centre in Dharmsala. She is the lead trainer for meditation courses and Yin and sound healing immersions, where she guides students on how to skillfully combine yogic practices with sound to offer a therapeutic space to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Meditation and Yin yoga are part of her daily life, and she has a deep passion for sharing them with others.
Annelise Piers
Annelise traded in her corporate suits for yoga pants after 17+ years as a cross-cultural coach to follow the call of creating deeper change in people she trained. She is an aromatherapist and dedicated the last 7 years to research and deep study of the yin yoga therapy and is now on a mission to teach others who share the same vision for deeper healing. Her fascination with the magical world of essential oils gained her names like ‘the good witch’ or ‘the mistress of magical potions’; no healing consult or class with her is complete without a personalized essential oil blend/recommendation.
