Program

Certification

Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

Pre-requisites and conditions

This teacher training course welcomes all levels but many students take this course just to deepen their own practice and knowledge as well. Basic knowledge of asana and yoga philosophy and a regular practice are advised to have an idea of what to expect in this training.

This training is suitable for you, and you are more than welcome to join Yoga Fusion Shala if:

  • You want to become more than just an ''asana teacher'' but immerse deeper to bloom into a ''yoga teacher'', embracing yoga in its whole essence and deepest layers, inspiring your students on their own journey while keeping a grounded, radiating integrity of the yoga path
  • You want to enroll but you are not interested in teaching right now (and that is absolutely okay), but rather immerse yourself to explore your abilities and delve deeper physically and mentally. This training is an opportunity to set more than a foundation of having an independent correct and safe self-practice and unlock your potential for inner transformation
  • You are a beginner yourself on your yoga journey; embarking with you on this experience will help you to understand the teaching and learning process even better
  • You have already completed a 200-hour teacher training course and you still do not teach. You still may be feeling lacking confidence or that you were not given all the right tools and a good start to ''fly out of the nest''. You might have been feeling disappointed and you are seeking a new vision and wave of inspiration, as now is the time to take your skills and ''surf'' to a whole new level and direction as a yoga teacher. This training will help you to enhance your teaching skills, elevate and enrich your future classes, be more versatile, and deepen your knowledge

The training will be given entirely in English. All training material is in English as well. It is, therefore, necessary that you are familiar with the English language. If you want to attend this training in Greek, please contact them to be informed regarding the dates that the training is scheduled to be given entirely in Greek.

About the training

Being allowed to teach yoga is a fulfilling and responsible task. A yoga teacher has a solid yoga practice of their own and precise knowledge of the teaching methodology and pedagogy needed.

Not only theoretical or intellectual knowledge is required to be practiced in order to pass yoga on, but rather one needs to apply and implement what has been learned in everyday life to keep on walking the yogic path.

Through your personal practice, a lot of life-vital energy (prana) is generated, which gives you the necessary radiance to inspire your own students and people in your life, but also inspires yourself to keep on with your own self-discovery and the spiritual life-changing journey you are about to embark in.

Converting what you have learned on your mat within your daily life means that you have both feet on the ground and you stay committed to the responsibility of keeping on walking your own yoga path while keeping on teaching and inspiring your students by example.

Yoga develops the whole personality, and while being on this journey, one can soon notice this increasing feeling of health and joy in life, success in your duties, and fulfillment in relationships and family. With regular practice, contact with oneself and their environment grows.

You can explore and learn your hidden talents and potential and can gradually expand them. Yoga leads to higher levels of awareness and development of contact with one's true self and experience of life in its fullness and wholeness.

This training will give you the opportunity to make great personal changes, discover, and explore your full potential. You will receive a welcome gift: A Yoga Fusion Shala's member discount card for massages, live and online class access, live and online future teacher training courses, workshops, and retreats.

Why choose this training?

Within Yoga Fusion Shala's multi-style yoga teacher training syllabus as per worldwide Yoga Alliance's standards combined with their own expertise in the field, you will experience a non-dogmatic, pragmatic, safe, and all-inclusive environment by experienced teachers that will guide and help you obtain and develop your knowledge, skills, and potential as a future teacher to the optimum levels.

You work with ancient-effective techniques from holistic yoga and different traditional Hatha yoga systems, an in-depth study of yoga texts, and years of experience in the yoga method, supplemented with scientific knowledge of physics, medicine, and psychology of a complete classical yoga context suitable for the 21st century, bridging the East and West, science and spirituality, the practice and the teaching of this beautiful philosophy.

Their aim is to direct yoga practitioners toward reaching highly professional and qualified yoga teachers' standards. Their prior focus is to prepare future teachers physically, mentally, and spiritually to be ready and confident to practice and teach by themselves. They will lay down the layers and fundamentals of becoming a successful, rooted, and well-rounded yoga teacher.

Therefore, during this intensive multi-style teachers training course, you will use various techniques regarding Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa (dynamic flow), Yin, Sivananda, Iyengar inspired method, and more.

You will gain knowledge as a powerful toolkit to combine in order to discover what works best for you while retaining the freedom to integrate elements from all those different yoga systems you will get in touch with. As you also emphasize on the important therapeutic aspect of yoga and yoga therapy, students who are suffering from any physical injury can join this training to deepen their knowledge for their own practice and benefits and also share it with the help of others.

Each student is strongly encouraged to find their own unique style, learn to be their own teacher, obtain a solid, steady self-practice, explore, and use their own teaching talent and voice as a yoga teacher as well. You will have many opportunities to teach yoga to your fellow trainees and practice in a safe, all-inclusive, non-judgmental environment, where mistakes are okay to happen, humor and having fun are parts of the learning process, constructive feedback is received and given by teachers and students, and the ups and downs only make you grow, keep you going strong, and learn from each other.

Obtaining the skills, confidence, and knowledge to teach multiple traditions will enrich your ability to blend different styles to benefit your students and will make you a more versatile teacher.

Location

The training will take place in Ioannina, Epirus, Greece. Ioannina was once the ''Capital of Enlightenment'' of the most mountainous province in Greece, namely Epirus. Ioannina is blessed with abundant natural beauty and rich history.

In this enchanting corner of Greece, you might feel that you stepped back to forgotten centuries with elements of the twenty-first century floating around the city. The old part of the city where the retreat is located has managed to preserve a rich heritage with outstanding samples of folklore architecture, a wonderful reminder of the city's past.

Time stops within the fortified walls surrounding the castle and the city, where your mysterious journey of yours begins. The oldest Byzantine castle in the country, the castle of Ioannina, will make you want to stay here forever in order to observe the unimaginable beauty of the city from the top.

Emblematic at its best, Pamvotida Lake is the true jewel of Ioannina, while the lakeside pathway with the plane trees is the real treasure for nature lovers. Small boats connect the city with a little island in the middle of the lake, the so-called “Nisaki” by the locals.

On the lake's waters, Mitsikeli Mountain is mirroring its perennial beauty and is just so majestic and peaceful to the soul. You can either follow its romantic promenade or sit on a bench and take in the view. Under the dense, misty atmosphere of the winter, the deep blue sky tries to surpass the color of the crystalline waters of Pamvotida while unfolding the mysteries of Ioannina.

Nearby excursions include the ancient oracle of Dodoni, the picturesque town of Metsovo, the beautiful Zagorochoria villages, and the breathtaking Gorge of Vikos. Ioannina is also very close to some of the popular summer destinations in Greece, Lefkas, and Corfu islands, as well as the most beautiful beaches and seaside places that Parga, Syvota, and Preveza offer.

The location is 15 minutes walk from Ioannina's bus station (or three minutes by car) and 10 minutes' drive from Ioannina National Airport (IOA). Five minutes walking from the lake, Urban Yoga House is right in the beating heart of Ioannina's historical and cultural center.

Close by airports to Ioannina is Aktion National Airport (PVK) (82 kilometers) taking the bus from Preveza to Ioannina. Thessaloniki Airport "Macedonia" (SKG) (203 kilometers) with a three-and-a-half hours drive or bus ride from Thessaloniki to Ioannina. You can also check Ioannina's airport direct flights, as seasonally more and more international flights will be added.

Things to do (optional)

For all adventure lovers and nomad spirits, many activities are available on their days off and daily free time.

Explore the region

Blessed with impressive mountains, close-by white sand beaches, spectacular gorges, and flowing rivers, Epirus boasts some of the most spectacular sceneries of the country as a genuine wonder of history and nature with a wealth of culture and tradition that no words could ever describe.

Its essence is concealed behind two words: Raw beauty. Epirus is a land of mountains, beautiful lakes, and stone villages that invites you to explore them through its stone bridges.

Depending on the season you are visiting, hiking, rafting, skiing or mountain skiing or snowboarding, trekking and kayaking, trail running or swimming, and SUP are only a few of the things you can do in this amazing area.

Explore the city

Small boats connect the city with a little island in the middle of the lake, the so-called “Nisaki” by the locals. This islet counts around 100 stone houses and numerous tiny stone alleys - a beautiful labyrinth of history and architecture.

Here you can also visit the house where Ali Pasha, the ruler of Ioannina during the years of Ottoman occupation, was assassinated. Another must-see is the Old Town, spreading within the walls of the city Castle and around it, the largest Byzantine fortress in Greece which offers breathtaking views over Lake Pamvotida.

Given its prominent role during the years of Ali Pasha, two mosques and several other buildings reminiscent of that era can be found here. Go for a trail run or walk within the peaceful forest of Frontzos hill overlooking the city! The forest is only seven minutes from Urban Yoga House retreat.

If you have to pick one museum to visit this should be the Museum of Greek History. This place was awe-inspiring, to say the least. Its creator Pavlos Vrellis, a former algebra teacher and sculptor, bought the land at the age of 60, designed the building that houses now the museum, and built everything from scratch.

The interior consisted of dimly lit rock-encased areas and hosts 36 wax sculptures created by Pavlos Vrellis depicting various landmarks of modern Greek History (16th century-WWII).

Make sure you visit Perama Cave. Follow the guided tour through the 1.500.000 caves and admire up close the beautiful stalagmites and stalactites that have been formed over the years. From the fascinating natural ecstasies of the 46 villages of Zagorochoria, you can take a journey filled with captivating sceneries, Gyftokampos hiking following the history of its ancient nomadic tribes, and the beautiful waterfalls of Iliochori where picturesqueness is at its best.

From the wilderness of Vikos - Aoos Natural Park and the view from the bridge of Konitsa to the authentic hospitality of Tzoumerka, the traditional character and welcoming of Metsovo and the historical vibration of Dodona oracle and ancient theater, until the powerful legendary roars echoing still strong from the dragon lakes of the Guardian dragons of Tymphi and Smolikas, this area will embark you on a journey back in time.

Within your free time, you can enjoy a massage treatment. You can choose any of the various traditions, Yoga Fusion Shala offers and enjoy relaxation, rejuvenation, and refresh during your daily training hours.
