Join us on a personal journey to deepen your own practice, explore the beauty of Yoga and prepare yourself to share classes as a teacher in the modern world. In this our course you will learn an alignment based practice used in both Vinyasa Flow classes and Restorative Yoga classes. At Flying Tree we believe strongly in the power of community, and you will be supported in a family of like-minded individuals who are here to explore this beautiful and deep practice together. Our experienced and passionate instructors are here to guide you along the way.
Flying Tree Yoga is located in a leafy suburb of the beautiful, safe, and dynamic city of Medellin. With many cafés, restaurants, and tourist spots all within walking distance, it's a great place to experience Latin American culture while you train!
There are plenty of supermarkets and health food stores nearby that will cater to any diet. Getting around is easy, with cheap taxis and a great public transportation network, including a state-of-the-art metro and cable car system.
The studio has its own accommodation on site so you can live and train in the same space. In the front of the property are the reception and practice spaces. In the back, there is a recreational area with sofas and a small library of yoga books.
Surrounding this are the 5 bedrooms, hosting up to 9 people. Each room has two double beds, and you will share the space with one other person of the same gender.
There are shared bathroom facilities and a kitchen as well as a patio with laundry facilities.
Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
At Flying Tree, they offer a fun, dynamic, and creative course, with an emphasis on empowering you to plan and deliver your own classes to the public. They teach an alignment-based yoga that is suitable both for Vinyasa flows and for Restorative classes.
From week one, they place an emphasis on practical experience - that means trying out your teaching skills! You will be closely supported in small groups and carefully guided through your month's journey.
The course is designed to give you a thorough introduction to the traditional basis of yoga - its philosophy and rich history to examine where your yoga practice is taking you, and at the same time, to prepare you to be a teacher in the modern world.
Andrew is the owner of Flying Tree, and a teacher trainer specializing in an alignment-based yoga flow. He believes in empowering individuals to find their own path and unique approach to yoga. His interests include anatomy, getting hands-on with adjusting and assisting, Thai bodywork, mindfulness meditation, classical yoga, Tantra, Buddhist philosophy, and the Spanish language.
Andrea is a senior teacher at Flying Tree, and a teacher-trainer specializing in alignment-based Hatha yoga. She has been helping lead teacher training in both English and Spanish in a number of schools in Medellín. Her interests include the energetic body and chakras; bringing yoga to beginner-level students and helping guide new teachers along their path. “My Yoga classes are focused on the alignment of the physical body, connecting breath and movement and relaxing the mind so as to be in the here and now. It is here that we can connect with our true essence.”
This program will take place in the city of Medellín which is in the Antioquia Department of the Aburrá Valley in Colombia,
Flying Tree Yoga is located in the leafy and tranquil neighborhood of Laureles in the city of Medellín
Nestled in the Andés mountains, Medellín enjoys a perfect climate year-round, with average temperatures between 82 and 64 Fahrenheit (28 and 18 degrees Celsius), which has helped it earn its name as the City of Eternal Spring
The different neighborhoods offer a huge range of cultural diversity. From the wide and leafy avenues of Laureles, filled with cafés, restaurants, and boutiques and home to the Flying Tree Yoga studio, the vibrant street art, and rhythms of the Comuna 13, the bustling nightlife and salsa beats of El Poblado and the peaceful Jardín Botanico, there is always something new to see.
There are plenty of options for tourism outside the city too, with the spectacular lake of Guatape and the rock of El Peñol, the coffee and banana plantations of Jardín, and the historical streets of Jericó. You can also take one of Medellín's famous cable cars all the way up the mountain to the forests of Parque Arví!
There is a fully equipped kitchen where guests are welcome to prepare their own meals (the price of food is not included).
In the neighborhood close to the studio, there are numerous health food stores, vegetarian cafés, and supermarkets to cater to any diet.
At Flying Tree, they believe in helping newly qualified teachers take their first steps in the professional world. Everyone who successfully completes the 200-hour course can join them for a further month of internships in the studio, for a small additional fee.
The teacher training will always be followed by an internship program, allowing you to spend an additional month preparing yourself for the wider world of yoga teaching. You will teach classes as a member of the Flying Tree team and receive mentoring and constructive feedback from their team of experienced senior teachers.
It's a great way to find your feet as a teacher in a safe and nurturing space! The internship program is an additional 800 USD and runs in the month following the teacher training.
For those who are interested in learning to teach yoga in Spanish, they also offer a specialized language course to help you start teaching a second language. The language program is an additional 350 USD and runs in the month following the teacher training.
