Join School Yoga Institute on Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula surrounded by beaches, rich wildlife, and jungle waterfalls. Located on the southern Pacific Coast, welcome to the perfect setting to recharge and gain a new perspective on life while strengthening your yoga practice. This is much more than a 200-hour course to dive into an entirely new level of awareness!
You will stay in Aves Hotel and Resort - Retreat Center sharing a room with three or four people, with your friend or partner, or having your own room. Laundry is available off-site.
School Yoga Institute’s mystical yoga teacher training curriculum is influenced by Peruvian Shamanism, providing students with a unique and spiritually driven course that goes beyond just a certification. Called by the energy of the Costa Rican mountains, ocean, spirits, and each other, they invite you to come and evolve on your spiritual and yogic path. On this profound journey, you will earn your certification and so much more. Upon arrival, they will get you settled into your room and give you a short orientation.
Feel free to check in after 1:00 p.m. or to drop your bags off early and explore until your room is ready. The manual will be provided at the start of the course. Optionally, a neti pot and a tongue scraper are suggested to be used throughout the course. You can purchase these on your own at any health food store. Everyone is wholeheartedly accepted and encouraged. They create and hold space where participants feel safe and comfortable. They support the growth and expansion of people’s horizons - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and energetically. As a group, a community, a tribe, and an extended family, you practice and learn to let go.
You allow the world to unfold before you without reaction or judgment. The intention is to guide aspirants through their own healing journey in order to better prepare them for healing others, letting go of anything that holds them back from what their hearts are truly called to do. Together you unveil the true essence and sweet nectar of life.
The schedule may vary. Every 5th day is an off day. They will make arrangements to make up any missed days during the program. Typically, it is not a problem and you can get everything completed during the course.

Every day at 6:30 a.m., there is a bus from downtown San Jose. The bus station is called “7-10” and it is 15 USD each way. This bus is direct to Cobano (gets on the ferry with you and then you reboard the bus after the ferry ride). From Cobano, you will need to get a bus or taxi to Mal Pais. If you take a bus to Mal Pais, you will need to take a taxi to Aves Resort.
Shared-ride shuttles provide the best ratio of cost to travel time. Sit back and watch the scenery and leave the driving to the pros. Shared-ride shuttles leave from the San Jose International Airport (SJO) and generally cost around 40 to 60 USD each way.
