This teacher training takes place in Triguna Yoga ashram. We are located a couple of kilometers from Rishikesh away from all noise and traffic and close to the holy Ganga river. Our ashram has two yoga halls surrounded by garden spaces with flowers and many trees. There is free Wi-Fi access, a hot shower, and a filtered drinking water system. We have a swimming pool and sauna available for students only

There are private rooms and shared rooms, some of them have air-conditioning (at extra fee, usually booked between May and September only) The rooms are big, clean and have Western toilets and wardrobes. Bedsheets, blankets, and pillows are provided for you. A washing machine is available for free whenever you need to do your laundry.

Please note that only one female shared room available per training.

Certification

Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

Prerequisites

The medium of communication in this course is English, so it requires a certain amount of proficiency in the language to be able to handle and respond to the instructions and lectures. Students who speak basic English have benefitted as much from the training as others, only some classes like Anatomy might be a bit more challenging, but we are here to support you throughout the training. There are no educational requirements to join. As long as you come with an open mind and a kind attitude, you are most welcome to join. The age of the candidate should not be less than 18 or more than 70 at the time of admission.

In this 300-hour teacher training, they will guide you from the beginning stages into the advanced stages of the ancient styles of yoga. For those who completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training, this teacher training course might be a unique chance to deepen your practice and learn a wider variety of yogic teachings. This 300-hour yoga teacher training course is for anyone from anywhere, with any background, nationality, or religion. This yoga teacher training course is designed by the experienced yoga teachers of Triguna Yoga School.

While making the outline of the course, they went on putting a lot of emphasis on the needs of a beginner as well as the intermediate practitioner of yoga. So, this course not only guides the beginner towards their first step into the world of yoga but at the same time helps the intermediate practitioner to move forward in their journey with clear directions. Students should arrive on the 2nd because the training start on the 3rd in the morning and that night is included. The course ends on the 30th at noontime so students can check out on the 30th in the afternoon.

Yoga styles

The teacher training will cover traditional Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Yin yoga, pranayama, yoga philosophy or ethics or lifestyle, anatomy and physiology, teaching methodology, purification kriyas, mudras, mantras chanting, bandhas, and meditation. Opening fire ceremony

Course outline

1. Yoga postures (asana)

Students will gain extensive knowledge of yoga postures and will increase their physical strength, inner strength, and naturally their flexibility. Some asanas are connected to certain mind patterns and throughout the training, this body-mind connection will get more clear in many ways. There will be assistance with the asanas and enough space for alignment. The focus is on Hatha yoga, partly on Ashtanga yoga and there will be some Vinyasa yoga classes as well. During the course, you will learn 84 traditional and dynamic Hatha yoga asana poses as well as a minimum of 40 Ashtanga poses.

2. Pranayama (breathing exercise)

Pranayama is an ancient yogic breathing technique that is used as preparation for meditation and is a vital aspect of practicing yoga. It improves the respiratory system and purifies the body and mind. Pranayama topics include an introduction, aspects of pranayama, different types of prana, types of breathing and the following:

  • Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing)
  • Ujjayi (the psychic or victorious breath)

Emotional detoxification kriyas is a combination of removing knots in the body through pressing points, breathing techniques, release through sound and laughter, and meditation. It is a three-day program and very effective to release the effect of emotions and other toxins in the body.

6. Meditation (Dhyana)

Meditation is a systematic practice that promotes physical, mental, and emotional tranquillity. This will cover breathing awareness meditation, AUM (Om) or mantra meditation, Trataka, Kirtan, tips for developing concentration, silence practice, Cathartic meditation, Kundalini meditation, Chakra meditation, Sufi Meditation, and dance meditation.

7. Teaching methodology

A yoga teacher should efficiently perform the practical applications of class planning and preparation. At Triguna Yoga, students will learn how to create a positive and peaceful class environment for an enjoyable and transformative experience. You will learn:

9. Anatomy and physiology (Sharir Fijian)

  • Proper understanding of the physical body will help to prevent injury before, during, and after practice

  • Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns)

11. Yoga Nidra (psychic sleep)

When a yoga practitioner moves through the various internal states of Yoga Nidra, a profound experience of relaxation occurs. This is called "turiya", a sensation of pure bliss. This will cover basic relaxation, tension relaxation, and full-body relaxation. In the course at Triguna Yoga, you will practice all levels of Yoga Nidra as they divide this process into beginner, intermediate, and advanced practices (levels I, II, and III). In Yoga Nidra advanced practices, you will learn to guide your body-mind into a certain rhythm.

Sunrise mountain trip

On a free day, Triguna Yoga organizes a mountain trip early morning to watch the sun rising, for those who like to join. During the colder months (December and January) they organize an alternative trip.

On other free days, students usually group together to go visit and enjoy Rishikesh town. Triguna Yoga organizes tuk tuks that can bring you there at any time.

Triguna Yoga Center is situated in the holy city of Rishikesh, India, at the base of the Himalayas. Rishikesh holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for local Hindus. Sacred rivers and mountains set the scene for yoga and reflective hikes. Rishikesh is a world yoga capital and every year thousands of people come to Rishikesh to learn yoga and meditation. There are hundreds of temples and ashrams in Rishikesh.

During this course, you will be served three daily vegetarian yogic meals included in the price. A healthy and happy life depends on a healthy routine and a balanced diet. The food is carefully supervised and is prepared in a very natural and yogic manner while promoting the use of seasonal vegetables and fruits and avoiding all the artificially prepared edibles. The cooks will prepare the food with utmost devotion and love and nourish all the layers of your personality.

Sometimes the vegetarian food is vegan as well, and if not, there will always be choices of vegan dishes available for vegan students. Also, in case of food allergies like dairy or gluten allergies, Triguna Yoga can provide enough options to serve foods according to your needs.

Ayurvedic massage is available upon request. You can book our usual masseuse for a 60-minute sessions (or longer) at the ashram. Prices start from 1,000 INR (about 12 EUR) for a standard 60-minute massage. Ayurvedic and Deep Tissue around 1,500 INR (about 16 EUR).

How to get there

Arrival by bus

Being a popular tourist destination, Rishikesh has a good network of buses connecting it with important places such as Haridwar, Dehradun, and New Delhi. Buses depart in the morning and late evening from the Kashmere Gate ISBT, New Delhi for Rishikesh every day. You can choose from a regular, deluxe, or luxurious coach.

Arrival by train

The nearest railhead to Rishikesh is in Haridwar which is approximately 25 kilometers away. Haridwar, in turn, is linked to major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Varanasi. Some of the popular trains are Shatabadi Express, Jan Shatabdi, AC Special Express, and Mussoorie Express. For those making the journey to Rishikesh, it is advisable to take the train till Haridwar and then either take a bus or hire a taxi to Rishikesh. While the bus would take about 45 minutes, the taxi will take you to Rishikesh in about half an hour.

Arrival by taxi

Taking a taxi from Delhi to Rishikesh is worth considering, as it is connected to other cities via the National Highway 58, which is in a good condition for most of the year. Triguna Yoga can organize a taxi for you. They always work with the same taxi company and drivers. The drive from Delhi to Rishikesh would take approximately five to six hours. The approximate fare from New Delhi is around 70 EUR (between 5,000 and 6,000 INR) depending on the season and time of the day.
