A quest for meaningful flow
Discover a movement practice that attunes you to your inner and outer landscape to find focus, clarity, stillness, and pure joy.
What comes to mind when you think of ‘flow’ in the context of yoga? Likely, fast-paced movement, sweaty vinyasa, and a physical focus with little attention to the quality of the breath or the subtle yet powerful shifts happening within. Vikasa Flow is a unique style of yoga rooted in the Vikasa method. From the Vikasa method, Vikasa's Flow classes honor slow graceful movement, long holds, and a keen awareness and respect of the breath. Where Flow takes on a style of its own is in the intentional format of the class which is structured around repetition, with a sequenced ladder flow that works towards a peak pose.
Flow classes have their own narrative, their own unique story arc that carries the yoga practitioner on a journey. Starting with meditation and pranayama to center and establish focus, Flow then moves through a sequence designed to move and challenge the physical body, open and nourish the emotional body, and allow space and curiosity in the spiritual body.
Leave your preconceived notions of Flow at the door.
Modern Vinyasa Flow is very much rooted in physical asana poses, and while Vikasa FLOW is also a very physical practice, it pays equal attention to the other elements at play. This results in a practice that leaves you feeling deeply connected and embodied, with positive benefits that transcend the yoga mat experience. Classes are structured around music, developed specifically for these classes, to enhance the union between breath and movement and draw you into a deeper internal journey.
Each Flow class includes:
- Meditation and pranayama - to balance, soothe, focus, and refresh in body and mind
- Asana - the specific poses guided through an intelligently informed ladder sequence
- A peak pose - that the class builds towards and prepares the body to practice
- Music - soundtracks designed to create focus, connection, and inner reflection
For yoga teachers, Niki will demonstrate exactly how to format and teach a Vikasa FLOW class and the importance of intention and expression. You will discover why and how engineering your classes in advance will create the most powerful and impactful experience for your students. Niki will teach you subtle yet profound techniques to instill your classes with a power and potency that will leave your students returning again and again.
This is done by understanding things like: how you as a teacher move around the room and hold the space, how to instruct verbally and how to create pockets of silence for inner reflection, how to open and close the practice with intention, when to demonstrate and mirror, and how to create themed classes which still allow for meaning to come from within each student, rather than from an external source.
The Flow 100-hour training will allow plenty of time for you to practice, and from there, your teaching will also come to life. When you can feel the effects of the practice and understand the power in the play of movement and stillness, you too will have the capacity to curate classes that are not only physically impactful but deeply meaningful and transformational.
This is an invitation for personal evolution, as well as professional growth as a teacher. You will walk away with 7 set Vikasa Flow sequences that you can practice, teach, and adapt as you please. Each of the 7 sequences will have its own music track, its own peak pose and ladder flow, and its own theme. These will be 90-minute classes, however, Niki will also teach you how to structure Vikasa Flow to suit one-hour or even two-hour class durations. You will also leave with the understanding of how to create your own flow classes, with a thorough embodied sense of the ingredients and method that will allow you to craft classes based on your style and interpretation.
Each day will start with a 2.5-hour morning ritual and practice guided by Niki and Michael. Each day will also end with a practice, the morning class being a little more strenuous and the evening class being a little softer in its approach, During the day there will be two workshops, one more practical, and one more theoretical, to help you walk away with a thorough understanding of the Vikasa Flow method. Niki also brings a host of related yoga and wellness modalities into the course with practices including yoga Nidra, Kundalini meditation, Gong, and sound. Prepare to move, breathe, feel,l and open up to a brand new way of practicing and teaching.
Instructors
Niki Lundberg
When Niki first discovered yoga she fell in love with the way it moved her closer to her inner self. From that day, her life changed completely. Yoga has taken her on a beautiful journey from Sweden into the world. She now travels the world teaching classes, workshops, retreats, and training in Thailand, India, Australia, and Europe. Niki believes that yoga can be life-changing, both on an individual and a collective level. With yoga, you can find your way back to yourselves, to discover who you truly are, and from there, your potential is limitless.
Michael Murray
While initially drawn to the physical aspects of yoga, Michael remains stimulated by the interplay between the physical practice and the more spiritual, inner journey that can be opened up by the physical practice. In pursuit of this interplay, Michael teaches strong and flowy Vinyasa classes focussed both on correct alignment and intuitive movement and also facilitates discussions and lectures on emotional intelligence and personal development.
