The rooms at Pratham Yoga Center are simple, clean rooms with positive energy. Each room at the center is different, and all students get their room by chance, there is no reservation of specific rooms possible. You are encouraged to accept and love and care for your room during your stay.

The accommodation at Pratham Yoga is meant to give you a simple modern ashram experience, this is why they do not offer luxury items in any of the rooms. Some rooms have AC, but all rooms have ceiling fans. Indian air coolers are available on request. Room heaters in winters can be provided to all rooms. %Bedsheets can be exchanged once a week and they have a cleaner who mops the room once a week. The rest of the week students are required to keep the room clean by themselves which brings a good balance into a day full of study and practice.

  • Asanas (postures): Master basic yoga postures with step-by-step instruction on alignment, technique, and benefits. Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa styles are our emphasis, supplemented by restorative and Yin Yoga classes.
  • Pranayama (breath control): Master breathing techniques that enhance physical well-being, mental concentration, and energetic balance.
  • Meditation: Learn skills in mindfulness and meditation practices that promote mental clarity, inner peace, and emotional balance.
  • Sanskrit and mantras: Uncover the spiritual language of yoga by learning the Sanskrit terminology of postures and the correct chanting of mantras to enhance your spiritual connection.

In the matter of asanas, the aim is to guide you through a stable, health-conscious practice that protects your body, yet helps you to build strength, stability, flexibility, concentration, and awareness. Through the training, one should develop a sense of harmonious sequencing, confidence, and discipline in order to build a profound base to grow as a yoga teacher.

Discipline and Code of Conduct

  • Discipline is an essential part of the training program. All students are expected to follow the course schedule diligently.
  • Attendance in all classes is mandatory. Leave is granted only in case of emergency or illness, with prior approval from the teacher.
  • Uninformed absences will be considered a serious breach of conduct and may affect your course progress.
  • Punctuality is crucial. Late entry into class is not allowed.
  • Failure to comply with rules may lead to termination of enrollment without refund.
  • Please inform the staff in advance if you plan to skip a meal to avoid food wastage.
  • Hosting outside guests is not permitted.
  • Activities unrelated to the course, including smoking and alcohol consumption, are strictly prohibited.
  • This training is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment and is not suitable for individuals with severe health conditions.

Evaluation and Certification

  • Students will be assessed through written assignments and practical teaching (asana, pranayama, and meditation).
  • A minimum of 90% attendance is required for evaluation.
  • On successful completion, students will receive a certificate.

Eligibility

  • Students must have an open mind, dedication to learning, and willingness to follow the Code of Conduct.
  • A minimum of 6 months of yoga practice is recommended, but not mandatory.
  • Full attendance and active participation in all classes are expected upon enrollment.

Study at the banks of the holy river Ganga surrounded by village life. Pratham Yoga is located on the outskirts of Rishikesh, right next to Rajaji National Park and the Ganga river. It is a truly special place to study because of the peaceful atmosphere

There is a garden and village view, to practice in the daytime and get fresh air. You can use the garden to relax anytime. Situated directly river front and is in very quiet location. A location consciously chosen to move away from the main tourist area due to its increase in crowd and noise.

Pratham Yoga was the first yoga school which moved away from the main tourist center 6 years ago. You can explore the tourist area on your day off to get the experience of Tapovan, Laxmanjhula and Ramjhula (reachable by Rikshaw or Taxi within 30 minutes).
